Llull and Spain v US

Yeah, enough time has been wasted on Llull.

 

to be fair, this is a short tournament,bes indicator would be his euro play..though i didnt follow his game

 

I actually think the opposite after having watched all his games. I think he is the ideal backup PG for this team if his buyout for this year wasn't so huge.

 

I don't think anyone considers Llull to be a pure PG. What I like most about him is his defensive intensity. I definitely don't think he's a starting NBA point guard, but I think he could be a good backup in the right system (next to a play-making guard or forward).

 

You're insane. He got major minutes on a silver medal team.

 

I want him to improve his shooting. If he can shoot an NBA 3-pointer at around 35% I would be really happy

 

I thought he was solid - Llull was asked to guard Durant toward the end (in a box and 1) and did an admirable job. Spain asked him to do other things but shoot, but he picked his spots well. He definitely has a future in the NBA if he wants it, but he may feel like he'd rather be a superstar in Spain than a fourth or fifth option on an NBA team.

 

I bet Rudy F and Navarro has told him not to bother with the NBA unless the price is right. Courtney Lee type of guard.

 

What time has been wasted on Llull? The Rockets haven't been paying him, and he's been developing skills at a level of competition significantly better than the D-League.

 

There's only one thing clear to me about his game -- he's a phenomenal defensive player.

 

I actually wouldn't doubt this at all. Rudy seemed to have a terrible time here.

 

Any player that is brought in the game to stop Durant after he just dropped 30 is got some value as a pretty good defender in either league.

Offensively its hard to judge anyone in Olympic play. By Olympic standards, a player like James Harden is a scrub and JC Navaaro is a stud. It's just a different style of play with different roles and likewise his offense looks completely different than when he's an impact player on Real Madrid.

Anyone who watched him play with Real Madrid should be complety baffled by Aruba's evaluation here. He's not going to be the Spanish kobe bryant or anyone but he's going to be a good NBA player if he comes over next summer. He's at the very least a quality combo energy guard off the bench.

 

Are we talking about Hardin or Llull? Because it sounds like you are describing that US PG/SG combo guy...not the Spanish guy.

 

Seems like a really high IQ basketball player that knows how to move the ball, and a good defender. Kind of like a Battier at the PG position in the NBA...nothing spectacular but I think he'll be a solid rotational player.

 

So you don't rate him highly because he's not living up to his price tag? In economic terms, the $2.5 (or is it 3?) million that we paid for his rights is a sunk cost. Regardless of whether he comes to the NBA or not, that money is gone. Why does him living up to that price tag now have anything to do with him becoming a contributor on a future Rockets team?

 

I lived in Spain for six months. That's really how it is.
