not quite badlee, he's saying that if we don't (didn't) get a superstar it'll be ok (which you have to expect him to say) we have good players who one day may be awesome.

You however were saying we don't need any superstars since we already have LeBron White (or Royce James), and Terrance Howard (or Dwight Jones)...

Hahaha @ the quickness and ball-handling to run the point.

Quick question if a man is 6'8 270 and has the "quickness, ball-handling skills and passing ability to run the point.", why in world this forum be debating on how much playing time he's going to get.

He's quick, a good passer, and good ball handling....FOR A BIG MAN, he is not good enough at any of those things to be a point guard in the NBA, if he was then he would be pushing Parsons hard for playing time.

A few good passes DOES NOT MAKE YOU A POINT GUARD!!!

Right now, as currently constructed, I fully expect Royce to be running the offense for the bench guys from the top. Toney Douglas and Shaun Livingston or Royce? That's what you got coming off the bench. Royce is the best playmaker we got of those bench guys. The other guys will spread the floor and Royce will run it from the top.

Of course Les Alexander doesn't think it's as important now as it was 2 months back to acquire Dwight Howard. Daryl Morey did his job and found a guy (Lin) that'll be able to sell tickets and make the club some money despite the fact we aren't going to win many ball games. The Rockets were set to host the All-Star Game without a marquee name to throw at their home crowd, but now that we've got Jeremy Lin the losses won't hurt nearly as bad with the money that the team will be making from Linsanity.

Essentially, when the Rockets signed Jeremy Lin, it served as a very convenient acquisition to cover up the front office's short-comings and it'll definitely buy Morey some additional time to put together a roster that will actually be able to compete for a title maybe 3-5 years down the road. With Jeremy Lin, the fan base won't be as fixated on the win-loss column as it was before and honestly if the Rockets are making money...then there won't be a need to make drastic changes at this point.

The Rockets, like many young, smart teams out there are playing this correctly. Preparation is key and that's what they've done. They don't have the baggage of bad long term contracts to hold themselves hostage (coupled with a lot of young, promising players and draft picks) that once another top tier player comes available thru FA or trade, they'll be in perfect position to be on the shortlist.

Obviously, the downside is...this team (barring any big surprises) probably won't be all that good (which isn't to say they won't be exciting to watch as they learn and develop). But the worst thing they could've done is become the next Atlanta Hawks or Memphis Grizzlies. A playoff team that will never make it to a conference finals.

So they'll just ride along until they can make that run for 1 or 2 elite players while already having a decent foundation to work with.

And yes, there are a lot of smart clutchfans that have already pointed this out, but it's worth repeating that by the Rockets keeping it open, it'll be better in the long term.
