Why are some of you posters mad at Dwight?...Im sure if you didnt like your job location and had an opportunity to go somewhere you liked, you would do it as well. I'm not mad at Dwight for wanting to be in LA but i was done with him when he said he doesn't to be in Houston. Consider this trade, the best trade that didnt happen for the Rockets

This coming from a person who took the time to write a Dear Dwight letter . . . that is only confined to clutch fans. Moreover, even if this is only about seeing Morey, Houston, or the Rockets succeed, the biggest problem remained in Dwight Howard. I never got the feeling that he actually wanted to play here.

Of course, you aren't going to admit you are obsessed, but I can say you cared a bit too much about this transaction or Dwight Howard. It would be completely misleading to say this was not about Dwight Howard, because it had everything to do with Howard and his value on and off the court. If it were just another player, it wouldn't have garnered this much attention or even a Dear (fill in an NBA players name that is not quite as prominent as Dwight). I don't think anyone could convince Howard to stay, anywhere, especially after some Magic fans poured their heart and souls to getting behind him.

Moreover, it was probably likely that he would've left for another team, considering the Houston' situation, a non-contender with rookies and ex-Orlando players. Houston's not close to being a contender with him, definitely not without him.

You provided good analysis, but kept overlooking the fact that the one player that fans clamored for and Morey pushed for had his heart in another city. Houston was close, but for whatever reason didn't seal the deal and it's even more unknown that the team could convince Howard to stay. It's nothing, but a "what if" game name, now.

He didn't come to Houston, end of story. Let it go. It's not the end of the world.

    Nash, Kobe, Gasol, Howard
    Allen, Wade, LeBron, Bosh

Who has the more impressive Big Four? I'd say the Lakers.

Yeah, I wrote the letter. Wanna know why I wrote it? I was hoping to get Dwight to read it and get some insight into how he was viewed here, into the intelligence of the fan base here, and into the possibilities of playing here. I won't share with you what I tweeted to him. No, he didn't respond. But I did give him plenty of stuff to read....for what it's worth. Hey, I'm a fan of my home team. I'm trying to help sell this team and this city, not sit around here poopooing every player acquisition opportunity because "dude doesn't want to come here". This board would be much better served if people posted with purpose instead of just blowing time yucking up their lousy attitudes, and complaining and criticizing about their home team without offering solutions and well thought out logical thoughts regarding where we are going and how we are going to get there.

I never one time overlooked the fact that Dwight wanted to go to Brooklyn and play with Deron. Never one time. And I never overlooked the fact that Dwight did not want to come to Houston. Never one time.

You don't have to tell me to "let it go". I already let it go once the trade was finalized. Closed chapter. We aren't winning a championship next season. I am only clarifying the record of each distortion that arises. You can't care too much about a transaction for a player that vaults your team into contending status. And just because I figured out what Morey was after for that moment and I was in full support of what he was trying to do doesn't mean I'm obsessed with Dwight. I'm not.

Just wait, I'm thinking and analyzing right now. I'm going to post my thoughts in a bit, change my signature to update what I see going forward. Morey has new targets. Dwight and Deron are gone. They were his top targets for this offseason. It's over. So we move forward. I'm already thinking forward. I've already got some good ideas of what Morey is going to go after next. I'm just letting my thoughts simmer for a bit. I've been thinking and evaluating about our top player targets even before the Dwight deal was completed, considering where Morey might go if we did NOT land Dwight. So, it's simmering.

It really doesn't matter what players the fans clamour for either. Fans are fans. Fans want to see championship basketball. And most casual fans have very little to no idea who to clamour for. They simply clamour for the player that had the best stat line last night, last week, last month, last year or the guy that is getting the most highlights in Sportscenter. So, Morey wasn't trying to get Dwight because the fans wanted Dwight. Morey was trying to get Dwight because he is a top three player in the NBA and he was available and he was the most logical piece to attempt to build a championship contender around. So, once again, it's not about Dwight. It's about bringing a championship team back to Houston.

By the way, I'm not interested in looking backwards at "what if" scenarios. It really doesn't matter now. I'm looking forward. Got it? Forward. I do have strong feelings about what happened in the Dwight deal. I know I'm right. I know that Martens was buffaloed by Fegans and Dwight. But I did not know the seriousness of that situation until yesterday when Dwight actually wound up in LA. But I do know now. Not interested in discussing that further. While most of you all are trying to figure out what happened, I already know what happened. Martens and his foolishness happened.

Why don't we discuss why Orlando wanted Afflalo? Has anybody really thought that one through?? Here's my theory. Because they know he is a good player and Presti's metrics, which Hennigan learned in OKC...and San Antonio...showed he is a very underrated player. What does that mean for the future?? Well, who is coming up on restricted free agency in OKC? And what team is fixing to hit the luxury tax unless they do some manuevering? Yeah, you got it. The Thunder. Afflalo is sitting in Orlando as a trade option for OKC if they decide to move out from under the obligation of having to pay harden the max. He's a trade option for Harden. Have you thought about that yet? This is what I mean about looking forward and seeing things down the road. I'm always looking forward. Just remember when looking forward, you can't stare past the giant pink elephant that is standing in front of you. And that is what happened with Dwight. As long as he was available, he was the giant pink elephant blocking the whole path forward. Now, he's gone, let's get on down the road.

Obsessed with Dwight?? Not hardly. Great player. He'll have a great rest of his career as long as he stays healthy. We gotta build a team that can beat his and Lebron's now. How we gonna do it?

Morey's contract is running out. I guess it's up to others to do that.
What we can do is watch them fight it out and beat the Heat, Lake show when their stars are in their 30s, when Kobe and Nash are retired.
    Only chance.

I predict Morey is re-signed. Les is not going to get rid of him. Only way Morey is gone is if some other team signs him away in free agency. Not because Les doesn't want him.

jopatmc - I enjoy reading your posts and analysis. So share your thoughts on what you think Morey's next moves are.

I think it's hilarious when other posters, ie. plutoblue11 assume they know more about your feelings than you do.

anyway i am very very disappointed with morey this time , howard or even Bynum is the guy u should pursuit with all efforts , if feign scare morey/magic/league with some unknown reason, i dont' understand why we not just take bynum ? u can't abandon bynum just because u don't want howard to LA . Now howard and bynum are over for houston forever . no way bynum will leave Philadelphia

Of course the Rockets would do that.... but the results are not in his favor

After Yao ..... no playoffs, all talk, no superstars.... I know it is not entirely his fault and his hands are tied, but just saying....

In other sports he would be fired after one or two years......
