Teams don't fear agents unless they have a reason to fear. Hennigan wasn't involved in the previous scrum at last year's trade deadline. Morey's not intimidated by agents. Presti is not intimidated by agents. Pops and Buford aren't intimidated by agents. Hennigan isn't either. He wasn't a part of the previous squabble.

The "fear" you speak of is directly related to Martens. He was the single instigating figure at last year's trade deadline. He was the one that cut the deal with Dwight then. And he was the one that was played by Fegan just now.

    You're wrong about Morey.

    Lol.

Morris won't sniff the floor over parsons, jones or white.

Get Delfino in the mix too?

    Morris is wrap city.

If anything he'll be part of a Martin deal if Martin is traded.

Morris might be our worst draft pick in years. That is saying so much about our history in draft picks. Not sure if your judgement on basketball comes from watching it jo. Got me confused on that one.

I still go back to when Hennigan went to visit Dwight in LA. One of the big things that came out was a very strong reiteration that dwight didn't want to come to Houston.

Why would you feel the need to do that, if not for Hennigan trying to get Dwight to warm up to Houston? And the only reason he would do that involves Hennigan wanting to trade with Houston.

I'm not sure if the owners would only trade Dwight where he wanted to go, or whether Morey had a beter deal contingent on Dwight being open to Houston, or what.

But after that meeting seems to be exactly when they started working on the Lakers/4 team deal. I'm almost positive that that was the make/break point for Dwight to Houston, and if he had reacted differently at that meeting he would be a Rocket.

Nerlens is a better pickup than Bynum.

Bynam would get an EXTRA YEAR with a sign and trade.
Has a MAX LEVEL player ever left his former team without it being a Sign and Trade?

I still think that they would have been willing to check him out

Here's one thing I don't understand. Orlando isn't a big free agent destination, so what would they have to fear about agents bad mouthing them? Who are they going to scare off?

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but he new CBA doesn't allow sign and trades for 5 years anymore. The only way to get a 5th year is to stay with the team that has your bird rights.

What they had to fear was Fegan bad mouthing them (Martens and Hennigan) to other agents who represent all the players because Martens did not keep a promise he made (not to trade Dwight to Houston) in order to get Dwight to opt in for his last contract year.

No they won't. They'll get a win out of them.

It could just be pure incompetence. This is not the first time Orlando has gotten pennies on the dollar in a trade.

Ray Lewis, whom I abhor, has an off the chart NFL IQ; MM, in whom I'm disappointed, has no apparent NBA IQ.

Their owner is incompetent (86 years old) and he has hired multiple incompetent front office personnel who thought they could build a winner by catering to the players instead of making the right basketball decisions, (Weisbrod, Smith, Martens, et al.)

I vote this as the top choice. Never underestimate the incompetence of some of these teams. Thats why they are always searching for new talent to replace their superstars who want out.
