Actually...there is a lot more money in football than there is in basketball. In the US that is true, but if you are a good soccer player, you wouldn't be playing state side...

    In 2012...
Kobe made 25m USD in salary...
Messi made 33m Euros in salary...

No sport requires the overall "athletic skill" that basketball requires.

absolutely futbol requires greater athletic skills than basketball & american football.

the fact that every single position player has to be in shape & the fact that you cant use your hands only your head & feet makes soccer a harder level of difficulty to master.

dont look at crappy mls but european premiere leagues. You wont find any overweight uncoordinated centers/power forwards & offensive linemen in that field.

american football might require more strength & speed but overall, futbol requires the greater level of athleticism.

when a futbol player can run a sub 4.5 40, jump 36+ inches in the air, and catch a spiral while being draped by 1 or 2 more athletes of similar measurables while maintaining their feet in bounds and/or getting drilled by another defender as he comes down, you can make the claim that soccer players are more athletic. until then youre dreaming guy.. the fat lineman thing is bs, their job is to be a wall, they have to be big. believe it or not, these fat linemen have to work on their own footwork to block, protect, and set up schemes..

having a skill to dribble a ball around with your feet and running around for a long time doesnt make one more athletic, just like having a chiseled physique doesnt make one either.. just being "in shape" doesnt make someone athletic..

you think only nfl players can run sub 4.5 40s with 36 inch vertical leaps? lmfaaaoo there are futbol players like cristiano ronaldo & lionel messi with sprinter speed.

in futbol, your whole aspect of athleticism is in full use every single time NON STOP. No timeouts or dead possessions were the stop clocks. Your agility, dexterity, vision, intelligence, speed, strength, vertical leap is used in full effect. There are no fat, uncoordinated, lazy, dumb players on the pitch. Every single member of the team has to be in shape & is a full fledged athletic specimen.

Can you say the same for the nba? the nfl? not even close.

& fat linemen are BS? how? they are fat right? i mean how many big men in the nba are overweight, uncoordinated, & overall unathletic? their only skill is the fact that they are tall. & defenders draped all over you? what like futbol? Like aussie rules rugby where they HAVE NO HELMET OR PADDING unlike the weaponized nfl helmet?

GTFO & broaden your horizons. There's a reason why futbol is 1# in the ENTIRE PLANET & why the nfl is only in america.

Soccer sucks. Pick up the ball and run with it! Hit somebody!

Seriously though, the jump shot is the most difficult feat in sports and takes the coordination of more muscle groups than anything else. Nothing in soccer comes close.

If soccer players played basketball, the score would end up 4-2 after 48 minutes of passing the ball around midcourt.

    Can just imagine it now...

For those of you who didn't watch the Heat-Knicks playoff series, it was in the 2nd game where Amare smashed his hand. Amare got very few shot attempts (6/9) while Melo hogged most of the shots (12/26). Reporters and analysts thereafter started to speculate that he hurt himself out of frustration because of the very few touches that he got.

Hakeem's eventually was much more than athleticism. He's got more years of experience and in much tougher situations than many have been in. Amar'e would learn a lot just by having a sit down with him, without even breaking out the shorts.

And the advantage in soccer isn't better overall athleticism, after all, they hardly do anything with their upper body, especially their arms. Soccer provides a better neural connection to the lower limbs and hips, so it makes a bball player more complete.

obviously not guy, but how many of those guys are 260lb+ muscle head freaks.. as far as sprinter speed, lol. id like to see the guys you mentioned go heads up with desean jackson(4.3), mike wallace(4.22), cj2k(4.24), or devin hester(4.23).

dont act like every player in soccer runs around non stop, theres one ball and a huge field with everybody spread out. 2-4 guys chase after a ball when its in their area, then kick it to someone else. all this happens in a few seconds. just because the clock doesnt stop doesnt mean there isnt any dead possessions, what about all the complaining to the refs and flopping that stops the action.. theres a reason you get stoppage time.

its bs because youre using it to justify your argument and discredit the fact that there are actually guys in the NFL that are freak athletes and are superb physical specimen.. many that have a physique that no soccer player can come close to yet they can run just as fast jump just as high as guys half their size..

lol typical soccer lovin nancy, using rugby to aid your argument against the NFL. having a defender on you in the nfl is not the same as in soccer. if you dont make the catch in the nfl the play is over or you could end up with a turnover, your team suffers. in soccer you turn the ball over its no big deal, possessions change all the time..

well listen up guy, youre on an american website, talking about an american sport. if you dont like it, youre the one that can GTFO

now youre still not grasping the concept that simply being "in shape" doesnt qualify you as "athletic."im not saying soccer players dont run fast, jump high, and have dexterity, im just saying the elite nfl athletes do it harder, faster, higher, stronger while being twice as big as the soccer guys..
