He's only all that if he actually made the deal. Hollinger said that the decision was made by their business-side executive, over Hennigan's head.
This is so ridiculous that one must consider the possibility of foul play at work. I would love to hear this guy's justification for turning those deals down in favor of this. He's really effed up the western conference.
The Nets offer was legit, Rockets were a good alternative, now they get nothing. I'm honestly shocked. Oh well at least we are better than the Magic now. Lakers beat us 3 out of 4 times anyways so no real change there. Hoping for a season ending Yao type of injury for Pau and Howard.
those 4 unprotected picks from the Nets are a Dwight back injury away from turning into 4 straight top 10 picks heningan is dumb as hell
if that was the Nets offer, we cant even touch that.. 4 unprotected picks from the Nets are you serious.. You could Iggy or Josh Smith with an offer of those picks alone
Don't blame the GM, blame the owner. This smacks of meddling and politics. It's rarely mentioned, because these things are hard to prove, but feuding owners are probably the reason a lot of weird deals get made.
I was thinking it but didn't want to say it. They probably would have been better off letting Dwight walk for nothing.
lol @ Robbed Hennigan. Got rid of Dwight and another team got Bynum. FAIL any which way you look at it.
Don't forget the Jameer Nelson extension as a black mark (it also had the 'owner wanted to extend him' excuse attached).
1 - The Nets deal was dependent on Lopez wanting to go to Orlando 2 - Kris Humphries taking a 1 year deal and wanting to go to Orlando (or a 3rd team), which he and his agent said they were not willing to do. 3 - Those picks were most likely garbage (Johnson/Williams/Wallace) core on its own is a playoff team.
How does the Orlando owner benefit from this in any way... he gives Dwight what he wants without even getting 1 promising prospect or pick. For the best center in the NBA. After turning down two better deals in terms of future and financial flexibility on the table.
He was just hired to be a hatchet man and the fall guy for sending yet another Magic franchise player away. Don't you remember how Orlando hired a new young GM to trade McGrady and lo and behold he lasted only one season before he quit and went back to hockey? Hennigan is also a scapegoat who can be sent off into the wilderness with the sins of the franchise with him. Their real GM will then come in blameless to rebuild the team.
LOL Wallace, Deron Williams, Jow Johnson 2 of which are already breaking down, you throw in no Humprhies, Lopez, and Marshon Brooks, and picks to rebuild. That is a disaster waiting to happen which is why i said that the Magic would be a Dwight back injury away from getting 4 straight top 10 picks The Nets deal was better than ours, but its a moot point.. because the Magic took the worse deal of the bunch
The Nets didn't have 4 1st round picks (you can only go 5 years, no back to back years). Lopez and Brooks aren't really that good. There is less than 5% chance Howard's back injury threatens his career. The deal was never really on the table, because the Nets couldn't offer it. Orlando didn't reject it, instead they couldn't get Humphries on board. Who on the Nets is breaking down? Johnson and Wallace both played about 90% of their games going for 35+ mpg. By the time 2015 or 2017 rolled around? Different story, but 2013? Please. At 30/32/28, those guys aren't falling off the map.
