Has nothing to do with the Dwight trade.

This is his team now. If they fail, he fails, and he deserves to be fired. That will be his fault.

If not one of rookies he drafts in the next two years don't turn out to be stars he should be fired.

His job now is to NAIL top lotto picks and get us a franchise player. If he doesn't then he should get canned.

No need to find deals and cheap role players anymore. We have cap space and will suck enough to get quality picks.

He's been running the show for a few years and as plan Y is now in tank mode after a huge failed attempt to acquire DH, who didn't want to be here in the first place! Too little too late. He deserves to be and should be on a short leash.

With all do respect...Im not sure the players they are looking to draft in the lottery are exactly role player types.

He's done well in the past in the middle of the draft, but you look at his targets they have tried to move up for in the past-Rubio/Cousins/Valanciunas and you can see that they Morey would probably do just fine drafting in the top 5 and would not make a Michael Olowokandi type of pick if he was able to break into the top 5.

Maybe Morey is the perfect GM for a team looking to surround stars with value role players, but I dont think that says that he has no idea how to build a team from scratch. You cant say he isn't looking to draft high ceiling players at all based on this past year at least.... the guy drafted Royce White for crying out loud. Not sure you can swing for the fences any more than that in the first round outside of the top 5.

The question on Morey's tenure with Houston has always came back to one question that nobody has been able to answer... If Les fires Morey, who is the better person out there to replace him that is available??? If there is someone out there better then I would love to entertain the idea.

Can some1 please explain to me, other than a clear conspiracy argument, why the Lakers didn't have to give up Gasol and more picks?

I really wanted to get Howard, although I had reservations about the back. It killed me to amnesty Scola, but I saw the logic if we were going to make a blockbuster deal(s), were getting younger, and needed the cap room, of course. The picks this summer all look like players with high potential, although potential is a total crap shoot at that point of the draft, regardless of what anyone says about the 3 picks, so they're good to have if we keep them, and fine to move for a guy like Howard. Hated losing both Lowry and Dragic, but Lin might end up being very good as our starting point, if the short run he had in New York wasn't a fluke. Getting Asik was an easy decision, IMO. Quality defensive bigs his age are hard to find, and easy to move.

Yeah. Getting Howard was always a risky plan, but worth the risk. What I never expected was that Orlando would gang rape themselves moving him. Gang raped by 3 other teams, particularly the Lakers, who were able to go first when the Magic's GM eagerly bent over. That will never make sense to me. If I were a fan of the Magic, I'd be throwing a complete fit. The level of disgust at management would be immeasurable. It looks like the "fix" was in, and we never had a chance. Believe that or not, that's what it looks like. It looks rigged. It looks that way, even if it isn't. This is another black eye on the reputation of the NBA. Incredible.

That was probably the main issue....

Not what the Rockets were offering, but what the Rockets would NOT take back in the deal to give them cap flexibility for the future.

They found a way by incorporating multiple teams, but bottomline was they wanted alotta money off the books and the Rox were not willing to take all that on....with good reason.

Oh....that and the fact that 99.9% of the time..the agent and the commodity get what they want.

    Hopefully now people see this.

Howard's agent was the driving force behind this. Blew up Houston's offer by telling Morey to back the f off.

So at the minimum it was all of the nonguaranteed contracts ($12 million in immediate cap space instead of Arron Afflalo and Al Harrington), Morris, Patterson, White (several of their recent first round selections), ant the Toronto (future lottery) and Charlotte (unprotected) picks.
That is a genius of a deal that allowed the Rockets to keep Martin and the Dallas pick. And it’s still better than what the Magic got.

Morey appears to have had quite a plan in place with the assets he had left over. I applaud him for that. Unfortunate it didn't work, but no need to let the other guy alter your plan.

Morey is a talent evaluator though.

What this team needs is a PR specialist. A suave slithery personality who can lie through his teeth and not blink twice about it. Essentially, we need a politician.

If Morey gets replaced, it will be by this type of individual, which makes you realize it could be a whole lot worse than it is. Because you are essentially robbing Peter to pay Paul. All of a sudden we can't draft or trade or sign FA's because we keep making mistakes on our estimation of their worth. It's Carroll Dawson all over again but worse.

It'll come out Morey only offered what he thought it was worth, a lease vehicle so to speak, if hefot given up for 3 late picks and the 4th pick from this past deft, I bet morey was offering them "a rookie", and "the TOR. Pick."-morey prob. Was trying to retain some pieces in his collection of picks, just in case

This may be fantasy land on my part, but I think Jeremy Lin is already a great piece. IMO, he's at least on par with Kyrie Irving, John Wall, and Steph Curry. Those 3 will likely command 11-12M easily when they are off their rookie contracts.
