Maybe, not saying anyone is right. But to think of some of the past offers Morey has put out for stars and to think he would not have upped it over what Orlando received is a bit weird as well. Maybe Bynum was not that wanted by us. I just don't get to excited about him and Lin playing together. Maybe the agents do have that much power. Who knows, but I do think that after all these misses for stars and the moves this offseason done by Morey that for him not to offer enough to get Howard is just as unlikely as an agent threating to blackball an organization, the Magic relenting to the agent and us not wanting Bynum that much.

Been reading here for months. Glad it's over.. The Rockets proposed offer is below just without specification of the prospects.

I have a hard time seeing Morey looking bad in this one. Dwight didn't even want to be here.

Plan B is to play the rookies.

If the rookies suck, Morey has failed both short and long term.

Especially if the free agents don't live up to their salaries.

Not much of what has happened to this point has been all on Daryl, but now that the Dwightmare is over, his clock is officially ticking (it was going to start ticking whether or not we landed him), and it's off to a bad start it seems. Doesn't mean he can't turn it around, and he'll be given 3 years to do so, but now every bounce of the ball is all on Morey. This is completely his team from top to bottom, Yao's fingerprints are nowhere to be found. If this team isn't threatening for a top 4 seed by 2015, he's done.

    Nuts are on the dresser.

I don't get it. Simply put, would ANY sane GM trade the 10-14th pick for 3 low first round picks between 20-30? Because that's kind of what Hennigan did here. And that's JUST the Toronto pick, too. Haven't even factored in the Dallas pick or Bobcats 2nd rounder.

    What an absolute head-scratcher.

Cant tell whether you are happy or dissapointed that this deal fell through, but I personally think they did the right thing by not going all in on Dwight, and sitting on a deal they can live with. I was ok with a solid deal they could live with, but they had to know their limits on what they would offer.

Im with you that the deal that is being put out on Twitter does not sound like a typical Morey deal. I think the Offer probably involved some of those pieces, but not to that extent, and especially not with multiple bad contracts coming back with Dwight.

As for building another team around players like Smith/Jefferson/Gasol.... I just dont see it. I know they tried for this with the Gasol/Nene deal, but in the long run they really weren't giving up as much as we once thought at the time, and surprisingly enough, the NBA looked alot differently back then even just months ago.

I know you want to bottom out, and draft high, but for some reason you dont think that will happen with this new direction. I sort of agree with that, but not for the reasons listed which would be going after B Level players instead.

If they weren't willing to mortage the future on Bynum's knees or Howards one year plan, then I have a hard time believing that they would do the same for Josh Smith and Al Jefferson at this point, but thats just me.

Has anyone reported that Mauri pulled the offer after the summer league? That scenario is looking more likely.

Three years is a long time. When you say nuts on the dresser i'm thinking a make or break year. In other words, he's gone after this season if Lin/Asik suck. Even if he's given another 2 years i wouldn't discribe the situation as nuts on the dresser.

But i agree with everything else you said. Its on him to build this team over the next couple of years or he's gone.

There was no way DH was coming here, even with the Rockets alleged offer. At least not until the All-Star break.

As much as I love Morey I agree with Donny on this.

This team will be bad hopefully and bad enough to get great picks.

Morey would be a great GM for a team WITH a star that needed to be surrounded by role players. Morey nails Role players.

The Rockets don't need Morey for a team that is tanking and getting top 4 picks for two years. They need a talent evaluator.

Honestly I don't think it really mattered what the Rockets offered. Once Dan Fegan got involved Orlando had no choice but to send him to LA.

3 other GMs low balled Hennigan, and he gladly stayed in the middle of the circle. What a jerk ...

    Hahahahaha.

Just goes to show that clearly sources close to Dwight meant DWIGHT....

We said it all along but no.....we're the idiots, right?

    Riiiiiiiiiiiight. LMFAO!

Also.....as things stand now.....If a player doesnt want to come to your team....they wont.

Deron got shipped because he had a part in Sloan resigning and jazz were pissed so they shipped him to Syberia.

    Otherwise....players and agents run things.

Morey's plan B shoulda been plan A all along and he was forced into it for his own good.

Les got his money maker in Lin.....so I think Les is cool with what went down.

they'll act upset....but they prolly breathing a huge sigh of relief that its over and they can FINALLY rebuild like Morey has wanted to for years now.

    This is interesting.

    Rockets offered:
    - multiple recent picks
    - future picks
    - $12 M in cap space

Rockets didn't want to take on bad contracts though. What's 12M in cap space mean in that case?

It seems like Dan Fegan straight up called Morey and told him not to waste his time - 0% he resigns.

So can we put a reasonable standard on paper now?

If Morey has not won the division or gotten a top 4 seed by the end of the 2014-2015 season he should be fired?
