What the Magic could have had was three picks better than what they got and more cap room. next offseason. Martin, Patterson and three top 20 picks could have been his before the draft. The Denver and Philly picks should be somewhere around 20. The Lakers pick he got will never be in the top 20, and if this deal is any indication, Hennigan will be gone before the Magic ever see it (2017).

Hennigan should have taken the pre-draft deal and picked the guys he wanted. The only thing I can figure is that he didn't want that responsibility and thought he could use the Rockets' scouting and front office to make the picks for him and still get the same deal afterward. Turned out that wasn't the case.

I wanted the Rockets to get Howard for the right price. That price being whatever allowed Morey to add another big-time player. If he thought the asking proice prevented him from doing that then I'm glad he balked at the deal. He still has his assets and a good young core. Not sure that I am ready for them to tank, though. Keep pressing on.

Bynum on this team doesn't even make us a top 10 NBA team. What's the point of having Bynum if he doesn't attract other stars, is injury prone and has a horrible ego?

The good news is I really like our rookies so I'm not upset they are still with us. The bad news is the NBA is still rigged and the agents still wield the power.

I'm with you. I don't believe this super-agent conspiracy theory stuff. If agents really could hold teams hostage like this, owners would have done something about it in the last CBA. They didn't even address it. They obviously thought super-teams were created by the drawing power of the cities and they decided to try to control it with luxury tax levers. If they thought the agents were the driver, they would have diluted agent power too or instead.

I believe it's probable that Orlando took the offer that they thought best for their long-term plan. People can make out like Houston's offer was the best -- which is easier when no one really knows what it was -- but what's best is relative to what the Magic plan to do, and what they value.

I don't think Morey does some dumb trade for a second-tier star. I think he keeps trying to set himself up for the big score, and rebuilds through the draft while he's waiting. If he thought Plan B was a second-tier star, he probably would not have destroyed last year's roster.

Love Bynum, but he's seriously injury prone.

I think the Injury history is a huge factor in this whole thing that was a major factor in Houston's decision making. They saw the affects of what happened with Yao and the franchise. That had to be a huge factor in this case.

The Rockets probably dont want the media to focus too much on this just in case Bynum ends up having a career year and it makes them look like the passed up on the 2nd best center in the NBA. However, I personally think the injury history was the key to the Rockets not agreeing to a 3 way with them getting Bynum.

Yep. I can't believe that I'm saying this but his interviews are getting annoying. No, we aren't closer to contending. We are closer to tanking. Cap flexibility doesn't mean crap if you're gonna use it on players like Lin and Asik.

Those signings look pretty bad right now. If anything, they might help us win like 35 games

Haha. This "2nd best center in the league" is not going to lead any team to a championship. Why couldn't you at least trust the FO's judgement? If they care more about marketing, wouldn't Bynum make more sense than rookies marketing wise?

Ask Morey how that worked out.

FWIW, that was decided well before the CP3 trade...

I'm not upset with the Lin or Asik signings, hell, I'm not even mad about letting Scola go (although we should've got something for him). But it's obvious his career is tied to the performance of this rookie/FA class over the next 3 years. His life is dependent on them. We swung for the fences and missed. That's fine, but now the kids gloves are off. Nuts on the dresser.

I guess our Rockets are now the team that Orlandos dream they had. That's one way to target a new fan base.

Curious about Morey's offer too, but I wouldn't blame him for a lowball offer after Dwight said he had no interest in Houston. Who'd mortgage their future just to get a 1 year rental? Not many.

I have this weird feeling that they'll help us nab that coverted 14th pick. The Raptors land at 13. It's our destiny.

We were swinging for a grand slam. We ended up with a sac bunt.

I disagree with Morey's nuts being on the dresser.

If they go into tank mode by design as plan B how would you fire him based on a bad couple of seasons?

My feeling is that the Raptors will be in the 6-8 range, but somehow win the lottery and advance into the top three, thereby saving the pick. That would be the Rockets' way. No more cursed franchise in sports.

Only way he gets canned is if he gets a couple of high picks and they look bad in their first 2 seasons.
