I recall reading somewhere (on a Luhnow chat I think) that DDJ and springer will get called up around the same time, so I could see him getting called up in the next few days. Luhnow just returned from Mexico yesterday, so I'm hoping we finally see the "flurry of promotions" he promised us.
Didn't notice this til I read Greg Rajan's article but Jose Martinez is being promoted to AAA (DDJ is taking his spot). That really forces Paredes to find time outside of second base.
Hasn't Paredes been playing in the outfield for a couple of weeks now? I guess Bixler is gone? He was the 40-man casualty, and now isn't on OKC roster. J.D Martinez was sent to AAA.
Wonder who is replacing JD in the majors... I'm very happy with the promotions of Springer and DDJ. I think it was a good idea not to give DDJ any illusions of power that might have come from some time in Lancaster. Plus, they get to come up and be a part of the playoff run. Good moves...something to be even moderately excited about with this club was sorely needed.
I think Castro will be reactivated. We have 6 players who have played in the OF this season on the active roster, and 3 of them can play CF. I actually find sending Downs down more disappointing right now. I don't understand why Scott Moore continues to have a roster spot.
Only thing I could figure is that maybe Downs still has options and Moore doesn't...though that still doesn't explain why he has a job in the majors at all.
Corpus has a monster prospect lineup now, even with Villar out 1B: Jon Singleton 2B: DDJ SS: Ben Orloff 3B: Borchering C: Ben Heath/Jair Fernandez LF: Grossman CF: Springer RF: Bailey/Locke Three of the top 6 prospects along with Grossman and Borchering? Are you kidding me?
If Springer and DDJ do well in AA next season what do you guys think about them skipping AAA and going strait to the majors?
No for DDJ. Depends on Springer. If the K-rate gets to below 25%, than I bring him up, but only after July.

Easy answer is: if they're ready. That depends a lot on the scouting reports. I could see Springer getting a September call up next year if he's doing awesome and the scouting reports are good. His defense will already play at the ML level, maybe throwing too. His hit, power and speed are not ML tools right now. He'd have to make big strides in those areas. His age is really a big factor in getting aggressive promotions. Seriously doubt DDJ would skip AAA unless he got extra time at AA. For all his improvement in LoA, he's still incredibly raw. His defense will be tested at AA. His call-up to AA just puts him back on a normal development schedule. Plus there's no need to rush him now when we got Altuve/Paredes/Jose Martinez ahead of him.
Then I take back what I said about it being good that DDJ skipped Lancaster. I hope he doesn't get too hr swing happy...
