Proof that DH's camp got their preferred destination.

So does this mean Orlando gets bumberd up in the lottery to get 1st pick next season? Kind of the trend these days.

Worst case, they are the HOF laden Lakers with Malone and Payton. I really hope they fail.

The best thing about no Dwight is that I can get tickets to the Rockets game for mad cheap in Boston now.

So did sources say Howard is going to sign long term or bolting to the next destination after one season?

The bottom line, for me, is that there are other issues at play with the Howard negotiations. At face value, someone out of Hennigan or Morey looks like a complete idiot - either Hennigan for not taking the Houston deal, or Morey for not making a minimal offer to beat out the Philly/Denver junk.

But the more I think about it, either Magic ownership made Dwight a promise they didn't want to break, or they were genuinely concerned that Fegan and other major agents would blacklist them for decades to come. It's impossible for me to believe that an analytics-trained GM under Sam Presti would strike a deal for the third-best player in the world that does very little in terms of impact picks or prospects. Add that to the unsettling confidence from Dwight's camp through this and the illogical rumors from an Orlando perspective, and something seems fishy.

Until the owners hold strong for a franchise tag system, it seems pointless for the Rockets to even try. Players hold all the cards.

Nothing else we could've done. That's a good deal by anyones standards. Sounds like it was Martin, Lamb, Jones, Toronto 1st, our future unprotected 1st, and taking back bad contracts without the need for Orlando to take on more salary (Harrington). What a terrible decision by Hennigan.

Say it with me. Secondary move. That's what Morey was going to do. He's not foolish to think that Dwight would be enough by himself.

Also, please excuse me for not giving a **** about this bright future premise. The Lakers have a bright future. The Heat and Thunder have a bright future. The Rockets may have a bright future but they're not contending unless they bottom out for a couple of years. And even then, it's a BIG IF.

Another thing you need to realize is that we are big Rockets and NBA fans, in general. This trade hurts the integrity of the league bc Orlando got a crap deal in return. I've been a fan since I was 8 years old. I find it insulting that you chose to rub it in on Rockets fans that haven't seen any real success since 1997.

Does that also mean we weren't interested in Bynum? Seems like Howard could have still gone to LAL, and Magic end up better. I would guess Lamb and the Toronto pick are are each worth more than Affalo.

    Moe Harkless Ineligibility

Quick question to anyone who knows:

Isn't there a 30 day wait period before signed players can be traded?

I ask because Moe Harkless was just signed a little over 2 weeks ago. That would make him ineligible for this trade if so.

I can only guess that the complete trade details are wrong and/or incomplete for now. There was also mention of Jrue "I deserve max" Holiday being involved but then disappeared as the rumored trade pieces progressed.

at least this will appease the Morey-haters. I just hope Parsons wasn't the holdup :)

So we have a bunch of assets nobody wants, a GM nobody wants to deal with, or a city nobody wants to come to, or all three. For all of Morey's activity, his production hasn't been much. Now 4 rookies, Asik and Lin are his saving grace or he'll be gone in a year. lets see how that works out for him. Morey has been medicore and that is being nice.

No, no, no! Don't put this on me. I had been telling you that He wasn't coming to Houston. You may have think is was trolling when in fact i was trying to help you out. I had been going by our past superstar experiences the whole time.
The only difference this offseason as compared to recent offseasons is we had a pretty good back-up plan.
You're talking a lot of s*** now, but when the season starts, you will be alright. Thats if you really are a Rockets/NBA fan.

More proof that agents and superstars have lots of power.

This latest info pretty much confirms what i was saying.. never underestimate the power of a superstar and where he wants to go. agents have real power in the nba and players were looking at this situation closely. dumping dwight in houston was never going to happen unless houston literally gave up the farm.
