If they truly just wanted to be terrible they would take our draft picks and our rawest guys (Morris and White) and say "thanks but you can keep the rest of those guys". Then they'd be terrible this year BUT they'd have at least one (maybe more) bonus lotto picks coming up. Any way you slice it the Rockets minimum offer is better, that's what I don't get about this.

Wonder if this trade will be vetoed for "basketball reasons". Apparently the Lakers lineup of Bynum, (??), Artest, Kobe, CP3 was creating a too much fire power for the rich. Wonder what he'll think about Dwight, Pau, Artest, Kobe, Nash...

It'll be interesting to see how Mike Brown manages his stars' personalities. The Zen Master had a Big 4 and we all know they fell apart.

I doubt it will be vetoed.

The vetoing of the Chris Paul trade last year should become the story. And it should have been so after the Steve Nash trade. The Paul trade was a fairer trade in terms of competitiveness than either of the Nash or reported Howard trades. The NBA is becoming the WWF as it's off-the-court script lines are enforced on the court.

Nash and Gasol are not drama queens. Kobe and Howard, on the other hand, could potentially clash if Kobe exerts his alpha male bravado on his new teammate. Will be interesting to see how Howard adjusts to his new role as Kobe's designated rebounder. I still say they're too good overall to not figure out how to make it work.

You guys keep forgetting that the trade wasn't vetoed to keep CP3 away from the Lakers, rather to get the Hornets a better deal. The original trade would have probably kept them in contention for a playoff spot. They wound up with Eric Gordon and better draft considerations, one of which turned into Anthony Davis. Stern, as much of an ass as he is, probably made the right move as far as the Hornets' interests are concerned.

Kobe took it easy on Bynum last ear I'm sure that he will be fine with Howard.

Don't underestimate Kobe's ability to piss off his teammates. It remains to be seen how Howard adjusts to becoming essentially a role player on a star-studded squad. If we've learned anything this past year, it's that Howard is an egomaniacal cry-baby and a drama queen behind the scenes. Let's not forget that Kobe couldn't even get along with Shaq, who was, at the time, much more established in league, even after all their championships.

Rumor was that Howard begged Orlando not to trade him to LA the last go round. What happened in the interim?

Shaq was one of the few guys who wasn't terrified of Kobe's tantrums.

Dwight's probably glad he can play second fiddle on a championship team. He doesn't have to worry about carrying a team in the playoffs he can just do whatever. All the talk about him wanting to be the man on a team is just a bunch of bull, if that were the case he'd just stay in Orlando or any of the other 15 teams that he could be the man on.
