I think if the deal actually goes thru, I wouldnt be surprised that Morey go on the offensive to help bolster any teams that can stop LA from reaching the championship.

    an example would be:

    1. Miami - give them cap space to get deeper if they need it...

    Houston gets Cole/ Miller
    Miami gets - Douglas/j.Johnson/D.Simpson/Fortson

Another Idea is Morey will try to pry R.Gay

    Houston gets Gay
Memphis gets Martin/Morris/T.Douglas/Frobes/J.Johnson/Simpson - essentially 2 1st rders and a bunch of cap space.

There arent that many options right now...

I like the Martin for Jefferson idea. Jefferson used to "own" Yao. We have a connection with McHale.

It's time to tank. No more shortcuts or trying to catch lightning in a bottle. They need a legitimate franchise player if they want to contend

You have no idea what happened or what our offer was,or do you have inside info ?

Maybe orlando wanted everything, maybe pressure from fegan got to henny, maybe orlando caved to dwight's demand's ... Who know's,but it's really unfair to blame Morey for this mess

I still think you ought to tank. But lets say it so happens that you go for Al Jefferson...

I think the next best step would be going hard for Josh Smith. He's basically the ideal realistic PF to pair with Al Jefferson. Unlike Donatas, who won't protect the rim.

And he might be available now that Howard would be gone --- what else does Atlanta do? If they do nothing, Smith likely leaves next summer. Their best option seems to rebuild around Al Horford through youth.

Lets say you wait for trade deadline. Asik + Donatas + maybe another piece. I think it makes sense from Atlanta's point of view.
The starting lineup would be Lin-Lamb-Parsons-Smith-Jefferson. Some rookies off the bench as well as Toronto pick next year. Fairly solid, plenty of upside.

Also, The Pacers would be interesting to watch -

George Paul is right behind Granger, Granger's contract has 2 year and George Paul's rookie contract is about due. The max offer for hibbert basically means they cant afford both Paul and Granger, this year may be the year the PAcers have to choose which player they are going to go with.
Granger - who's been there thru thick and thin, loyal - Does the pacers show him the same loyalty or do the Cash in and go with Paul....

how do you KNOW that .. why the hell will stern care about orlando getting the number one pick .. first of all i dont think lottery is rigged but even if it was it would not be designed to benefit ORLANDO

We now need to get rid of 10 power forwards.

    I'm not a DonatasTheRocketFanboy! :p

Anyway, that seems the sensible thing to do.
If you have to choose, Terrence Jones would make much more sense to keep on a team that plays Al Jefferson for 35 minutes.

And the Rockets better accept the fact that they're essentially a small market team. Both in comparison to places like LA or Miami(I would include NYC if the Knicks had a clue what they were doing) and also due to the fact that this franchise hasn't accomplished anything of note in a decade and a half.

Which means there's only one way to rebuild. The Oklahoma City route. Suck for a few years, stockpile draft picks and clear cap space, and then if you can keep the roster intact, you'll have a contender for the next decade.

of course it's not rigged. But people would still say that it was --- as an incentive to get Howard to the Lakers.

It will be designed to help Orlando because they're hooking the Lakers up with Dwight.

well, Philadelphia are the same size. They just had the chips to get in on it.
Realistically, they had a choice of Bynum or Howard.
The Lakers basically aren't giving the Magic anything apart from a 1st pick.
The 76ers could've called the Nuggets, added one more pick to replace the Lakers and done the deal themselves.

Houston simply didn't have the pieces Magic liked, or weren't willing to give much, who knows.

Why would Utah do that? Both are worth way more than that.
