The other awesome part of this: The Magic got rid of a really good coach for no reason.

    They aren't all guaranteed!

Perhaps we can farm them out for future firsts to enhance our 'future potential' team lineup?

    near miss

best non-trade for the rockets since they were about to send Hakeem up to Chicago for Pippen in the early '90s. This would've been Randy Johnston/Carlos Beltran all over again. DH would never have signed here, he would've taken less $ and signed with the Nets cause he could make more $ in marketing.

Smooth move Orlando, just set your rebuilding back a few more years

Affalo is a worse SG than Lowry is a PG.

That's not to say either one is a terrible player. But you wouldn't expect to see either one carrying a team on their back to the playoffs either....

And Affalo is $8m+ per season for a while.

They may have ditched JRich, but they replaced him with a more expensive, worse shooting, younger version... odd choice?

The 2nd worst part for the Magic, besides rejecting that Nets proposal, is trading for Al Harrington, who has three years guaranteed money left on his deal, at around 7 million per. Why the heck would Orlando want Harrington??

Le sigh. The Lakers tricked/bullied the Nets out of taking Bryant because they knew he would fall to them if the Nets didn't take him. The Lakers Hornets deal was done a day before the draft.

Actually, Kobe was a draft pick throw-in. The Lakers were clearing the cap to pursue Shaq later.

The irony is that the Marc Gasol pick was also a throw-in pick, but this time it's the Lakers who did the throwing in. Nobody knew how good Kobe would be. Same with M. Gasol.

The point is, the Lakers didn't set out to draft superstars. They set out to grab other teams' superstars when they reached their prime.

@jadande: I'm retracting my Bynum re-signing with 76ers tweet. Original source clarifies to say "not sure"

Maybe Bynum is a realistic FA option next year?

The Nuggets just got really good.
Their team philosophy, masterminded by George Carl still remains the same. No over-sized egos on the team. Iggy is the ultimate glue guy.
