As roxxy and others have said, Lin needs to shoot more jump shots and floaters in the style that Nash and Parker does without all the physical contact.

"Punch himself to defend himself" - LMAO...but actually not a bad idea. Kobe gave similar advice to Blake Griffin who kept getting hard fouls. Kobe told him to, "smack the f--- out of somebody" in order to deter these players from getting physical with him.

Here's the link to the story:

That is the thing about Kobe that is hilarious. He speaks the truth. I love it.

Lin is weird--he doesn't have any sense of a 'ceiling' or limitation. As he has said, he just goes out there and plays basketball. What other player has stepped up the way he did at Toronto so early in his career, calling off his teammates and getting a green light from Coach D to take a last second 3?

He has huge heart. Now, he needs to combine that with more tactical savvy. He's getting stronger in the offseason but he needs to play 'smarter,' picking his spots, and maybe playing some politics: letting a ref know when they've blown a call, giving a hard foul after he takes one, etc.

Sorry, don't know if Rondo and Russ worked out together, but I do know that Russ trained with Rose and Love in the 2010 offseason. Not sure if that's what you're thinking of. Anyways, here's a link to that story.

    His hair is short there!
And I am aware of the perspective, so they are the same height.
    There are better photos around

Not happening. Lin plays "to glorify god". Plus his parents won't approve it if Lin yells at the ref. or his teammates. He will continue to play in a godly manner.

Someone posted a photo of Lin and Rubio standing next to each other either in this thread or in the upside thread. It shows Rubio is about 2" taller. Hopefully someone will find it and repost it here.

I don't think they will be in the Hall of Fame but both may make the All-star team a couple times. Rubio is a better passer while I think Lin may be better overall offensively.

If Rose is 6'3" then Lin is 6'5"
In reality Lin is 6'3" and Rose 6'1" ;)

Yeah, until Lin's injury, I don't think he really realized his limitations, that is, the consequence of constant aggressive play and always being in the "5th gear", as Kidd described of Lin when he was signed by the Knicks to supposedly mentor him. But he didn't really have a choice at that time when the team desperately needed him to make things happen. And so Lin just went out there and, as you said, played with his whole heart and with all his might to help his underachieving team win. As we all know, he's been preparing his body for the upcoming season, and with more skills development and playing experience, I'm sure he'll become more "tactically savvy".

That game winner shot in Toronto was just incredible, from D'Antoni's green light to shoot the 3 to letting the clock wind down to .05. It felt like something else took over Lin and made that shot for him. LOL. Just shows his confidence and belief in what he's capable of doing.

Related to this, here's something for all Rockets/Lin supporters to enjoy - it's actually from Stephen A. Smith (someone most of us want to strangle). He was briefly on a radio show to talk about Lin after Felton was signed. SAS said that in comparison to Felton, Lin was a "better scorer and a better threat". He went on to say that Lin "can put up points. He's a threat. He's got heart. He's not scared. All of these things are true." I guess SAS decided to finally say something true about Lin since he's no longer a threat to Melo's status in NY.

SAS even said that he expects Lin to improve and I quote "he can bec Nash-esque. I see that." He also seemed to hint that Lin was not a good PG for the Knicks cuz he played SG in college and seemed to back off a bit. A bit.
What is this world coming to.

SAS said it last month sometime on a radio show after Felton was signed - probably somewhere at the beginning of July. SAS called in to a talk show to comment - believe it was the Michael Kay show (this is the only talk show host besides SAS that bashes Lin). I copied what SAS said because I thought it was interesting that he would finally say something true about Lin - and especially at a time when there was a petition circulating on change.org that was calling for his resignation (mainly because of his unfair comments and apparent hatred towards Lin). While I think media personalities are paid to create controversy, SAS's disdain towards Lin was a bit excessive and I think most people saw that.

One other point about what SAS said. On the talk show, he certainly wasn't advocating for Lin's return to the Knicks. While he did compliment Lin, he also said that he felt that Felton was a better fit because of the talent already on the roster. The gist was that Melo and Stat are your offensive stars and the most highly paid. And so, you must maximize their talent especially when you're stuck with them for the next three years. He felt that Felton would be sufficient for the PG role because all he would essentially need to do is bring the ball up the court and pass it over to Melo and Stat. In order words, what SAS was also indirectly saying here is that you don't need another offensive talent like Lin to steal the limelight. I sort of agree with him but in a different way - how I see it is if Lin were to stay with the Knicks, I think he would actually be held back in his development and wouldn't be able to play in the way that would fully maximize his talents at all times.

I couldn't find the July pod casts, but here's the link in case if you're able to find it. http://espn.go.com/new-york/radio/archive?id=2693958

Ricky Rubio will make more fancy plays and highlight reels, but Jeremy Lin can score ugly and win ugly......... (How often did Rubio score amongst opposing bigs with an "and one"?) The only down side is Lin will get hammered more than Rubio, which could wear on him, maybe his biggest negative last season.

But at the end of the day, given the same conditions, I think Lin will bring more wins for his team than Rubio........

I do enjoy watching both players.

I really can't pay attention to SA. He reminds me of alex jones, another rage a holic attention w----.

Toronto was big. It was crazy how everyone rose to their feet simultaneously. History in the making right there. On valentine's day, on an "asian night" planned at least a year prior. Not many athletes can create an indelible moment like that.

IF, and that's a big if, JLin can somehow learn to minimize the hits, he will be AT LEAST an all star for years to come. The bigs he's challenging in the paint are at least 40 lbs. heavier, no pads and coming at HIM. Figure it out JLin!

6'4.25" Kobe (according to Kobe) and 6'4" Lin. I don't think so:

Kobe is in the background AND leaning down yet still a couple of inches taller, at least.

    6'4" Ricky and 6'4" Lin? I don't think so:

Rubio's head is down, slightly hunched over, yet clearly looking down while Lin looks up as they look at each other (no homo). :)

    Conclusion:

Lin is 6'2" barefoot, +1 in shoes; Rubio is 6'4" barefoot, +1 in shoes.
