Why didn't Toronto go for the rumored Lowry + #12 for #8? Ross would have still been there for them at 12 and we could have picked up Drummond at 8.

Because their GM is horrible. Just as bad as The Cavs and Charlotte.

I'm actually looking forward to next year's draft to see what Morey can do with a lottery pick or two. He's been pretty good with late picks so far. Let's see what he can uncover near the top of the draft.

This. If you could somehow get EVERY Nets 1st-round pick for the next 10 years (not possible, I know, but for the sake of argument...), you couldn't use them to build a team. They're just going to be too late in the round to get any good players.

It's a head-scratcher why ORL is going this route.

What he does makes sense. The problem is "fans" and media types not being patient. Also it is sad that he has to reveal strategy to those that don't get it.

We are yes the least experienced...but the least talented??? That is not true at all...There is a lot more optimism for the Rockets youngsters than lets say...the Bobcats...

Unless they know something about Howard's injury Nets don't.

If we are the least talented how come we have had the 14th pick 3 years in a row? At least say we are the best of the worst.

    Great thread.

I hope the Magic suck for years and their r****ded GM gets canned for passing up the best deal so that he can get Brook couldnt-get-a-board-from-home-depot Lopez and 3 late 1st rounders. Stupid.

If he considered it overpaying, I doubt morey would have offered the contract. Good post though.....

I hope they suck as well, but I would rather keep what we were going to piss away for a year long Dwight rental on a team that wouldn't even be a contender.

A lot of things went wrong this year:

Three teams passed up on the second best player in the draft costing us a trade to get the 5th pick.

Toronto was too stupid to realize they could get Lowry and Ross for the 8th pick costing us Drumond.

The Rockets didn't tank and lost 7 games in a row to barely miss the playoffs by exactly 1 game. If the Rockets had their own top 5 pick they would have the best deal for Howard by far.

I'm starting to like the prospect of keeping some of our young guys if others don't want to deal as well...

I agree. I think Hennigan knows full well that we have the best offer, and he is trying to force other teams to up their offer. What he doesn't realize is other teams don't have much else to offer, whereas we have room to up our offer infinitely.

I think no other team can match the package we've already offered and Morey is willing to wait it out rather than negotiate further.

At this point, I would rather have Bynum on this team. Adding Bynum, Asik and Lin would be excellent, given we are 17-deep at the Forward positions.

I dont, if they Magic are anywhere near the top 5 of the lottery, Stern will give it to them

I hope the Sixers, Nuggets, Magic, and Lakers all make the playoofs for the next 10 years. But a foil in Sterns plans

I was pushing this point in Howard threads for a long time.

For all of those that were vehemently arguing that there was no way anyone could land Howard because how much leverage Morey seemingly had and that there was no way they would end up taking any other offer...

You can't predict stupidity on their part.
