Modern day role players who play their role to a perfection (and some of which are very skilled): Luis Scola Tony Allen Chuck Hayes Avery Bradley Al Horford Lamar Odom Jason Terry Shawn Marion Marcus Camby Udonis Haslem Steve Novak Mike Miller JJ Redick Sam Perkins. Jeff Hornacek, and Terry Porter...borderline great, let's not exaggerate too much. Shandon Anderson, I guess. He was a contributor and good defender, but I've seen much better in the present and past. Clyde Drexler and Kevin McHale were far from being role players, especially the Clyde the Glide who was arguably the 2nd best shooting guard in the league, during the reign of MJ. McHale career numbers could've easily went up, if he didn't play in Boston.
Has anything he has done the past year been mentally weak? Wait for it... No. As far as I am concerned, Lebron has not let any trash-talkers get to his skin; he has not been in major fights, he doesn't respond to naysayers, like the Indiana Pacer's "choke" sign. And everybody complains to the ref, EVERYBODY. Does not mean they are mentally weak.
If I could embed from iPad I'd show ya plenty a said video, and no ejections, a scuffle, and it would be calmed down, in the 90's players started getting T'd up more for that, and talking **** to the refs, which the refs ignore lebron, and say "sorry I missed it you know I got ya 4 extra ones coming anyways"
No I almost added that, but it took him a great game 6 in Bos, and a great 4th qtr to get by the "old aged Celtics"-so ya he did mentally struggle, and passed away at times, then he turned it up, but ya like I said I almost added excluding this year, but he is the first or second mentally weak bball player, Dwight might be up there at #1 soon...
That's fair I would agree, although Mchale would make him a scrub with his whole Celtics team n all, so klove n wolves vs. Celtics Mchale era...loo that'd be a fun blowout to watch klove might have 30, maybe even 60, but Mchale would have one good don't come in here shot and better hope he's shooting that z3 good KLove, also Mchale would maneuver around Klove for 30 layups
What about when he demolished the Thunder? Oh and btw, against the "old aged Celtics", Bosh was out, and Wade played hurt. IIRC, Battier played relatively poorly, setting up his standout finals. Having one of the best seasons in NBA history is mentally weak? I think you need to reevaluate your standards sir. Your argument makes no sense: you can't exclude this year because we live in this year and not last year. He has shown his mental determination.
I rest my case he needed them and needed to defer to them to get bk. bc he can't do it alone, bc he is not mentally strong enough
Bosh played game 7 in MIA against the celtics and hit 3-5 for three or something like that maybe he had 5 3's...so ya I rest my case. LBJ hit the late deep 3 dagger in game 7, but MJ played in 0 game 7's ever I believe. MJ was mentally tough, only maxwell knew how to push his buttons. LBJ is great, but c'mon the celtics should have beat them, they didn't and LBJ got his ring good for him, now he will get his gold medel, and have a nationally televised event on BSPN claiming himself the greatest basketball Olympian ever...oh wait I think he "matured" out of that. I wonder who LBJ's doc/mental help coach/psych. Was this year what a handful, "I don't know if I like yellow skittles, and I tend to pass the ball late when it matters most, so I don't have to maybe miss, god I might make it!? Is that ok why don't I like sprite, I mean I endorse them, but I hate it.and DWade man he needs to" -"mr. James stop" -"I'm sorry you know how I want to be batman but the media calls me robin" -"but mr James you just won a championship carrying dwade like wade carried Shaq" -"well its just it's just I Wannago back to Cleveland andya.....ya...I love yellow skittles"-"mr James wait..."(mr James exits psych. Office) -"never seen a man that rich act like he's in college still, oh wait he just hasn't matured yet, I wonder, wait have his, ya they've dropped right, ya" to be his mental coach if he doesn't have one, he needs one, if he has one, he needs 3
That he isn't mentally strong enough, until he got a full healthy squad...he couldn't carry the whole load like Dream or even Timmy in 2004
I'm sorry, I couldn't even understand your first post. Maybe your mental toughness on spelling and grammar needs work also. Anyways, nobody did what Dream did; you cannot single out LBJ. Timmy had Manu, Parker, Big shot Bob, Poppovich (who is a all-time great coach), and lets not forget about Bruce Bowen. The only weak link is Nesterovic, but wait who had a crappy C too? Oh right, the heat. Talk about a complete team in the Spurs. While the heat had a hurt Wade, Battier, Chalmers, and Bosh who averaged less than 15 points and got out-rebounded by Lebron? Your argument has no factual groundwork.
I just noticed that I said Timmy in 2004 I meant to hit 2003"#*^Edit Dream did it twice, everything on his back, and Duncan 99, 2003...others include MJ cause we all know Quitten wasn't very good will ignore!-Charles barkley in 1993, but lost to an MJ...those are mentally strong players, a player playing nowadays look at Kone playing through all sorts of weird injuries that he should play through, but it'll hurt him long term, and Kobe has always had a strong mind from his father maybe, and maybe that is all LBJ has lacked through maturity is a good fatherly figure...maybe, maybe not, but he isn't like MJ, or Kobe, or DREAM, or even magic, nor isiah, he's LBJ and he got one let's see him get his not 8,......
And the celtics weren't injured as well, you say LBJ has it, well he should have destroyed the Celtics, but they got to him at times, he played a great GM 6, n 7 then chip so there ya go... Btw re-read and you'll understand, if not I'm sorry for your lack of competent knowledge on the old days. Bc that is what that "first post was about" who was better old school or new school ball, better all around players existed old school, that was my point, he'd have a tougher time then with D that allowed aggression, people were only usually thrown out of games for fights, Akeem even threw punches one game, and I believe only received a technical foul...
All those spurs players are not near as good as a wade LBJ bosh put together however, team, so again Timmy had more on him, and Timmy made Parker better espesh his rookie yr in the finals...
Ok. 1st off, MJ played in a game 7. 1992 vs. Knicks. 2nd, remember Reggie Miller and MJ's fight? People got under his skin too. 3rd, "Quitten" is a top 50 player of all time, better than what Wade is/was/can be, and MJ also had Dennis Rodman and Horace Grant. 4th, Barkley had KJ, Majerle, Dumas, Ceballos, and Chambers. Thats a championship supporting cast. 5th, once again Timmy had a good team, and Hedo who shot lights out from three that year. 6th, didn't Lebron play through injury in the finals? 7th, you know who else played with the injury Kobe had? Camby, and to be honest, I have seen high school players play through the same thing. He did not pull a Willis Reed. You should reconsider your basketball knowledge, history, and interpretations.
Are you trying to compare a one-game number with the overall tourney average? LeBron average 4.0 this year so far. So MJ is better by 0.75 assist per game. What is the point?
Some people always want to live in the past, because nostalgia is a powerful thing. But as individual sports show, with the superior training and money put into modern sports, as well as a general population increase, athletes always get better over time; otherwise track records etc. would last for years. You can easily argue that basketball teams in the past were superior to the teams today because there were simply less teams back then, so the talent was more concentrated. It'll be hard to be a team like the '85 Lakers or '86 Celtics as far as talent goes. But individually speaking, players are likely better now than they were then. We've never seen a player like LeBron before, and, although I'm sure it's a minority opinion, coming from someone who watched both LeBron and MJ, I'd take LeBron every time. And one day, we'll see a player that puts LeBron to shame. That's just the evolution of sports.
Oh and to be clear I give Kobe his praise as mentally tough...plays through injuries etc. so I don't detract them all, I'm just saying I think LBJ was gunning for a trip double, I think that 92 team was all about getting that gold back, and dominate everyone in their way. This Olympic team is all about themselves, then country, and they only care about blowing teams out to try, and be recognized, with the original AND ONLY "Dream Team" 92
