Broussard reports the deal is close.

Let's just keep in mind the source here for now.

So a deal is "very close" to being done, yet ESPN can't even decide whether Pau Gasol is in it? Here's a clue, Chris: if the Magic are trading Dwight Howard and the only confirmed piece you have going back to them is Arron Afflalo, your information is a bit questionable. Of course, that actually requires a national reporter to think from Orlando's perspective, and that seems impossible for them to do.

Their modus operandi is to ignore anything which doesn't benefit an LA or New York team and grasp at any straws which do.

I am not sure about this.........how and the hekk does Philly end up with Bynum and only have to give up Iggy. In addition Orl gets an awful set of players back. Like I said before this trade is not happening i don't care how close Broussard says it is.

To who and for what? Not going to get a ton of picks/prospects for a 31-year-old PF viewed as declining and making $20 mil/year on a multi-year deal.

Ric Bucher: Source close to Pau Gasol: Spaniard is not in the proposed 4-team deal that would bring DHoward to Lakers. about 5 minutes ago

Simply saying "they can flip Gasol" is a non-argument in my opinion. They can flip Bynum as well, yet they want nothing to do with him.

Ric Bucher: What I believe: Orl/LAL busting their respective backsides to get a deal done asap. But proposed deal raises too many ?s to feel confident. now

Jarrod Rudolph: Keep in mind this thing has been "close" a few different times only to break down. A deal isn't a deal until it's done. It's on Hennigan now now

Morey is not going to want Gasol at this point unless he gets him for dirt cheap, meaning unguaranteed contracts and 2nd round pick.

Ah well. I'm not too worried about it.

Morey isn't willing to overpay for Dwight, which I'm happy about. But I really want us to keep it harder for him to get to his final destination of either Brooklyn or LA.

Not that he won't play great but I don't want him in the West unless it's for the Rockets.

It's his job as a GM to construct a Championship team. However, as long as he doesn't have that he will deserve criticism. That's just part of the job. If you are asking my opinion, as I stated earlier I like that he is revolutionary in his thinking but has yet to produce Championship rings. In the end, all that matters are the results. No matter how conventional or unconventional way you go about doing that. Also I will say, Dwight Howard does not equal rings, but it is a start that puts in the conversation.

Look Henny, if you didn't fool Morey the first 16 times what makes you think you're going to fool him now? Just give up, say yes to the Rockets deal and get this Dwightmare over with so your franchise can finally move on.
