I would think so, too. Thus the article says (a) Orlando's plan would be to trade Pau for other assets, and (b) it is fluid as to whether Orlando gets Pau or Bynum. These really make it sound even more like an effort to create leverage to increase Houston's offer. It really is just another variation of the "Bynum to Cleveland" thing-- recruiting a 3rd team to take a guy they can't really use (be it the older Pau or the "likely don't want to stay in Orlando" Bynum) for some value. Only this one is even more complicated since it'll include 5 teams (the 4 listed plus someone to take Pau/Bynum off Orlando's hands and give them something good).

Cool, get it over with. More than sick of hearing him dance around where he will and will not sign. Biggest baby in the NBA? Quite possibly...Glenn Davis, please relinquish your title.

Good point. Didn't really think of it as involving 5 teams as eventually ORL would have to get rid of Gasol. Woj used to be nails, these days I'm not sure he does enough vetting.

Remind me again, between Denver and Philly, where is that lottery pick coming from? I could have sworn Orlando was pining to get one at the very least.

They are trying to do everything to avoid dealing with Houston. It has always been this way since this all started.
I am so freakin' happy that it's been that way because we actually came out on the better side.

The Magic are moving him. That is without question. We can't look at Howard purely on his talent. Howard's attitude is only killing his trade value. To move Richardson/Qrich/Turk/Davis, they need to take back Gasol with the goal of moving him. Gasol is moveable. Heck, if they really do like Brook Lopez, I know I'd do Lopez for Gasol if I was the Nets.

    Affalo is meaningless.

This trade would probably include the 3 1st rounders Denver has (2 own, 1 NY), and 1 from Philly.

Rockets can offer more, but will they? Also the possibility that Holiday, Moultrie, Harkless, or Turner could be added or Denver sends out Mosgov, Hamilton, Fournier, Miller or Faried (I'd doubt)

I will be so happy if that happens. Can't stand this **** and just want us out of the Dwightmare soap opera. Glad we will be able to keep our rookies and continue to tank so we can rebuild this squad.

Philly was the 8th seed a year ago, and Denver is hardly an automatic. Those picks are not terrible, like the Nets picks. Unless Faried is included, none of the young talent or picks will equal Lamb or the Toronto pick, but this deal has more legs than the Nets deal.

As currently reported, I still think the Rockets make more sense as a 3rd team.

Really, now - - with Pau supposedly heading to Orlando here and few bad contracts leaving what do the Magic net out of this???

Either this straight BS or another smokescreen.

What is the end game for Hennigan? If it is to duplicate the Nugs' haul from the Knixies this Woj report is in a different galaxy.

    I call BS.

Ok so you're telling me that:

    1. Denver and Philly made the playoffs last year.
    2. Denver and Philly are both still trying to be as good as they can be next year.
    3. Denver and Philly are both improving as a result of this trade. Philly going from Iggy to Bynum and Denver from Harrington to Iggy.

So HOW IN THE WORLD are those picks NOT going to suck next year?

    Conclusion: they will suck.

I disagree with this. Gasol is on the books for 38M in two years. No rebuilding team is taking on that salary. So you're looking at trading him to a contender for what? They're crappy draft picks and their own expiring contracts, that's what.

So just remove Gasol from the equation in the four-way trade and replace him with "crappy draft picks and crappy expiring contracts".

Orlando taking bad "crappy draft picks and crappy expiring contracts" plus Aaron Afflalo for Dwight is unfathomable, no matter what else they get from Denver and Philly in the deal. Oh no, Philly's future 1st rounder, the #19 pick! That completely changes the ballgame.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Woj's work on this one. I am pretty sure there are "serious" conversations taking place. At the very least, Orlando has to act like they are serious about exploring this deal and, if they are, the rest of the teams would likely be seriously engaged in the talks. Even if they are suspicious about whether ORL is stringing them along, they don't really lose anything by talking in August when there's nothing else going on anyway.

Woj is just reporting the facts, it's up to us to draw conclusions about these facts.

I think this trade makes a lot more sense for Orlando if they are getting Bynum + AA + Harrington.

It seems like there is no indication that Asik could be part of a trade for Howard. Is that right?

He cant be traded till midseason, so it is highly unlikely.

That's a good point. Remember when Eric Gordon learned he had been traded to New Orleans while he was on a bus full of Clippers fans? He may have even found out from them. So embarassing. Maybe Orlando officials advised him not to participate in his camp to avoid just such a situation.
