The US plays an uptempo game, and when not in transition they can live off of three pointers. No team today has a dominant post presence, so any drive inside forces the D to collapse and free up shooters. Kobe's more used to the traditional half-court paced game with stationary post ups and specific cuts to the basket. This is why he wouldn't fit in a team like the Heat or Thunder
I'm guessing you didn't watch the first half and all those missed easy layups, free throws, bad fouls plus some lack of communication at times. To their credit, they came out like gangbusters in the second half though the US answered the call.
I'm still skeptical of Kobe. Yes, he can get hot quickly, but does he get a green light to shoot as much as he wants? His unleashed cold shooting kept Australia in the game up to this point. The ball sticks when it's in Kobe's hands. He needs to play more team ball. He has teammates to defer to, and he isn't the alpha dog on this team.
Now look at Kobe. The US simply has too many weapons and a new player can beat you each night. You have build a big early lead and hold on for dear life against Team USA and hope their missing to have a shot because they're just pouring it on now. Funny to think only a few minutes ago Australia still had an outside shot.
