Seriously man. You've really got to let this rock logic yes/no idea of equivalency die from your own rational reflection (that is - if you're even capable of such a thing any longer). Just because side A has done something evil/dumb, that doesn't automatically mean that side B has done the same evil/dumb thing except worse. Let it go. There is no equivalency. And, even with that, using YEAH WELL UR SIDE DONE IT TOO as a defense is ****ing r****ded. If both sides did something wrong, both sides should be punished. You seem to think that both sides doing something wrong means that you are justified in ignoring the wrongdoing by your side. This is, seriously, the last time I'm going to ask you - you've made some good posts, and had some good ideas - but, please, stop being so ******* dumb about **** like this.
Out of town visiting wife's relatives in So TX. But I thought all you Repubs spend all day in Church on Sunday?
Sweet deal? No doubt. You probably had no problem with Nixon's ethics. <object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" id="+id+" width="400" height="336" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/swflash.cab"><param name="movie" value="http://embed.crooksandliars.com/v/MjUxNzEtNjAyNjM?color=C93033" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed src="http://embed.crooksandliars.com/v/MjUxNzEtNjAyNjM?color=C93033" quality="high" wmode="transparent" width="400" height="336" allowfullscreen="true" name="clembedMjUxNzEtNjAyNjM" align="middle" quality="high" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed></object>
How are Nixon's ethics important in this context? The only two men whose ethics are on the line are Romney and Obama. Romney used his own money and private capital to make money. Obama used public money and resources to make his money. Regarding ethics I choose Romney over Obama every time.
Considering the economy, the right track/wrong track numbers, and Obama's approval numbers (always tickling but never cracking 50%), this could have simply been a referendum on the incumbent and it might have been a wave election for the GOP. But this election isn't going to be about Obama anymore. It's going to be about "What is Romney Hiding?" And it's going to keep being about that because whatever he is hiding is apparently worse than the fact that the country is asking, every day, especially as Harry Reid goads him on: What is Romney Hiding? He could stop it by releasing the returns but he has obviously judged that that would only make things worse. What could be that bad? What is Romney Hiding?
Romney isn't hiding anything. This is just pre-election mud-slinging that will wash away with the conventions and stretch run. BTW, if ever we get this breakfast scheduled, I hope you can join us. That goes for bigtexxx and some of the other in-town conservatives. It will be lively and will probably end in a food fight.
Obviously he is hiding something. That's why he isn't releasing the returns. He would rather take on the daily criticism (from even his own party) than let us see them. Romney himself has even said releasing them would end his candidacy.
A new 30 second ad by the Obama campaign, “Son of Boss,” opens up a new front on Mitt Romney’s taxes. In addition to suggesting Romney may have paid no taxes at one point, the ad highlights clashes between the Marriott Hotel chain, where Romney was a longtime board member and chaired its audit committee, and the IRS. The federal government determined the company used a scheme to generate “fictitious” losses in order to lower its tax burden. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/DABbkpHzg3o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If Romney isn't hiding anything why won't he release his tax returns like every presidential candidate since his own father has? Because Romney IS hiding something. This isn't something dumb like a demand to see a birth certificate or school records, things that are never requested nor received from candidates for the presidency. This is tax returns, a thing that every candidate releases. It is not a dirty trick. That you would consider it one brings me to my next point regarding your breakfast. I appreciate the hospitality of your invitation but I can hardly imagine a greater waste of time. I'd rather read DD posts for 12 hours straight.
I believe Romney will drop his tax returns at a point that will make the Obama campaign look foolish. I can understand that he doesn't want to do it too early and lose the effect of total exoneration. A late release also would limit dirt digging by the Obama campaign and its media attack dogs. I am saddened that you feel a little food, a little frivolity and a little friendly feuding would be a waste of time. There are many here with whom I disagree but precious few whom I find disagreeable. Some of my closest friends are wild-eyed liberals while some others are so far to the right of me that I feel I am manu sinister.
