Still waiting for Steven A Smith to rant about how Aly Raisman should be getting more media attention after three medals and two golds, finishing strong in the last events while Gabby Douglas choked in her last two events literally falling off the balance beam ie. utter fail (Steven A Smith Voice).

We all know that won't happen.

I really don't care. I'm happy for both of them and it clear to see how Gabby Douglas and her back story is very "marketable" a la Tim Tebow/Jeremy Lin, but the Steven A Smith, Al Sharpton character types annoy me.

Leo Manzano had a nice finish yesterday to get silver. Nice timing.

Ashton Eaton is doing great too.

After i saw her floor exercise i kind of thought to myself she was the real star, but realized that ship had sailed. Her leadership was probably a big factor in douglas' performances, especially in the team competition.

I've never understood this but if you don't care why did you bring it up? You obviously do care to some extent.

Thank you. I guarantee Misty May-Treanor or any other girl in the Olympics doesn't give two ****s what some random dudes on a message board think about them. They spend their entire lives training to get to the pantheon of their respective sports only to have some horndogs break down why they aren't attractive?? Insulting, and bush-league.

at the risk of impending backlash here, i'll say again that even gabby's lone gold medal win was highly suspect. in addition to gabby's questionably high score on vault, there is simply no way that komova's flawless floor routine deserved a score less than izbasha's

Let's calm down about this. Someone just mentioned she was hot and someone disagreed. No big deal. It's not taking away from how great she played and i don't remember the poster using her "bad" looks to downplay her performance.

Which is the problem with events like gymnastics, diving, etc. These events are subjective based opinions and nothing more.

Well I don't know about the deductions she received, but again she had a higher starting value on her floor routine than Komova, who herself had a lower starting value than several others. So that partially explains it.

Maybe one day they'll have the technology to eliminate human judges and have a computer objectively score the routine.

That still would be subjective because the computer is judging.

I think the judging is fine. When appeals were made the losing team didn't seem to feel cheated, so the judges were probably getting it right. The issue is judging too quickly. Judges need more time to talk and review video.

    Read it again.

I said: "I don't care I'm happy for both of them" Means I don't care whether Gabby Douglas gets all the fame/attention. Makes no difference to me.

I said SAS and AS types annoy me. You know what I'm talking about. I don't have a bias, they do. Are you defending them?

Holy moly, Merritt 12.94 in the semis. I predict a new WR in the Final.

Quote yourself correctly then. You said "I don't really care." directly after the comments about SAS and AS. If you don't care about their opinions why post about them?

I'm not claiming bias or defending anybody I just never got the whole "I don't care about this but let me say something anyway" posts I see.

Alot of its based on who has the more intriguing story that can sell. Very similar to what happened with Jeremy Lin. Unique story of overcoming stereotypes, and struggles, to achieve SUCCESS in their sport.

Just saying, where's Stephen A Smith and Co. who couldn't stop talking about how Jeremy Lin's media hype/new contract was unjustified? Where's Floyd Mayweather who said if Jeremy Lin wasn't Asian he wouldn't have gotten this hype? Its very possible the fact Gabby Douglas is black (something that's new/different) has some part to do with her attention?

He was talking about the gymnastics judging. Does that come down to who has the most interesting story? If so, judged events in the Olympics are even worse than I thought.
