I'd rather have Lillard. Way more upside. No chance Portland does that deal though so the thread is pointless.
Well then lets start a "would you trade Jeremy Lin for Steve Novak" thread, or for Jason Kapono thread, or if we really wanna start up some debate how about "Who would you rather Lin or Bullard???"....c'mon that's a very dumb argument, because one shoots better in the summer league than the other did on the biggest stage in the NBA (MSG) Lillard is already better?!?! And to say that Lillard isn't turnover prone like Lin because of his 2.3/game is kinda stupid also...his last year at Weber "freaking" State he played against 1 count em 1 ranked team.... college stats mean very little, just because you shoot it good against D-3 Competition doesn't mean when someone is actually playing defense you're still gonna light it up....
Geez! People are complaining about Lin's small sample size but totally love Lilliard's even smaller sample size? True, Lilliard might be the rookie of the year, all star, and MVP. But so could Lin (obviously not ROY). But he could also be a bust, injury-prone, bad publicity, etc. Fact is, we know more about Lin than we do about Lilliard.
I don't think anyone is saying that Lin is necessarily "a proven commodity" but the facts are the facts, he is more proven than Lillard. Lillard has not played in 1 NBA GAME. Mr. Lin on the other hand has played lights out basketball in MSG against top NBA teams. Simply put 25 is more than 0
This is a terrible point, Lin is better than them because he has played at a high level against high competition, case and point with Lillard, he has not played against high level competition so therefore he is considered to be an unknown (As far as NBA playing time goes)
So....I'm guessing we wouldn't trade Anthony Davis for PPat either correct? Afterall, PPat has logged NBA minutes..
Lin is untouchable, even if Portland wants to do the trade. Do you think Morey will trade Lin? Not a chance.
Weather he deserves it or not, Lin just might make the all star team this year. Never underestimate the stupidity of the fan vote
Ahhh, I knew this point would come. The main difference between this argument and the current OP's ridiculous argument, is that Anthony Davis has played against top competition throughout his basketball career and he has dominated. Lillard has played well against the exact opposite.
Everyone knows Clutchfans made a huge mistake in allowing sigmund to become a poster. So, should we trade this fool for a bag of manure down at the local feed store? Or should we trade him for the crud in the crack of a dog's butt? No, because neither the feed store nor the dog would think they were getting fair value in return. ***** There is one bad thing about having some bbs idiot on my ignore list: the curiosity ends up killing me. I HAVE to look and what it is everyone is spitting on this time. That said, while sigmund is stupider than the stupidest thing you have ever seen, and while his premise is morAnic (we did not 'make a mistake' by not completing a trade that was never available to us in the first place), the actual question is a fair one: Would you rather have had this year's #5 pick (which MAY have been Lilliard) OR Lin? Since Lin is more expensive, and was undrafted, and frankly it was a sheer miracle that Dolan talked himself out of matching Lin's offer anyway, if e had it to do over again, would we have preferred trading Lowry and #14 (I say 14 because Lowry for #5 straight up was a fairy tale fantasy) for #5 and not ever extend an offer to Lin at all? That's a fair point to debate. And since losing 14 would have meant we also did not get Lamb, really you are asking if we would trade Lin AND Lamb for Lilliard. Personally, I am much more interested at this time to see how the Lin & Lamb combination works out (assuming Lamb does not end up in Orlando.. crossing my fingers)
This is the definition of a troll thread. A member with a vendetta trying to stir up the hate with a scenario based on a decision we never had the chance to make. If it were just posed straightforwardly that would have been fine.
I guess the main issue most people have (including myself) is the sweeping declaration by the OP that we made a mistake by bringing in Lin when we could've had Lillard since Lillard is waaaayyy more proven and hands down light years better than Jeremy Lin....
Lillard releases his shot low it seems. I bet he is going to struggle against good defenders. Plus he is not good at setting other players up, judging by his assist numbers.
I think Lin will end up improving his game and becoming a very serviceable PG. But as far as Westbrook, where do I sign up!!!
