That's what he will be doing once the season starts and Lin and the youngsters prove they are for real.
Really hoping Toronto sinks and we are surprisingly in contention, best of both worlds, lottery pick and rapid maturation of the guys.

Does Les pocket the money from the arena naming rights and signage though? Wouldn't that be more of the domain of the party that owns the arena? So like, part taxpayers and maybe a small fraction of that also goes to Les. I'm not sure, someone correct me on this

30% of that money goes to Steve Francis. Remember, he built Toyota Center.

Im wondering if the Rockets new deal with Comcast has an agreement regarding ad revenue that benefits the Rockets.

The revenue sharing rules in the NBA apply to pretty much everything revenue wise as far as nba branding, merchandise, and traditionally TV deal revenue, etc. goes.

There are ways that NBA teams can generate revenue exclusively for their club traditionally by ad revenue inside of their arena. Meaning the banners that are placed within the Toyota Center. Not a big deal.

Now enter the new era where teams in all different sports arenas are building their own networks. You saw the controversy with the Longhorn Network a couple years back, and we all know that the Knicks now have their own network (MSG).

My guess is the new relationship the Rockets have with Comcast is allowing them to find a loophole to collect some sort of ad revenue that they wouldn't have been able to collect through a more traditional relationship with a company like Fox, or ABC/ESPN. I dont know the exact rules, but this is what I assume is the case here.

Off topic, but this does give some insight to the one of the upgrades that Toyota Center is gonna get this offseason. Courtside LED advertising sure sounds like we are gonna get a LED Ribbon board on the scorers table. Along with the new mega scoreboard, and some more new videobaords added Toyota Center will be right in line with the best arenas technologically in the NBA.

I can't find an article right now that says it, but my fuzzy recollection is that the Rockets keep all that. Also, this article doesn't say anything about it outright, but you can see in it that it's the Rockets negotiating and announcing the naming rights deal, not the Sports Authority. If the HCHSA gets a cut, it must be a minority share because they obviously weren't part of the negotiation. And, I suspect they don't even get one.

Pretty sure that the Toyota center is owned by the rockets through a subsidiary or special purpose vehicle, but don't have the exact info. One of the reasons the rockets value went up was because the Toyota center was built - it increases revenue to the rockets. Otherwise rockets would have left town.
