Not saying they've leap-frogged him in precedence but Lancaster already has Alex Todd and Chan Moon at SS. There's a big numbers crunch at LoA/HiA. Todd and Moon started at LoA. Todd was promoted to give Moon the majority of the reps; especially after Jio got injured. Moon got promoted after Fontana was drafted. So they'd have 3 SS's at Lancaster, none who really merit getting the call to Corpus.
With the amount of time left in the season, I'm not sure they'd just hand him the spot back and screw over Moon and Todd. Todd's probably a utility infielder at best but Moon needs regular reps.
Looking it up, there was an article from Mctaggart saying Mier may not be back in Lancaster this season due to how he has struggled trying to get back from injury. Couldn't find the exact article, just a mention of it from TCB.

Ok, so here's a short recap from last nights game in Salt Lake. I sat right next to Fernando Abad as he charted the game, which was almost as interesting as watching the game. Had no clue what went into charting a game before. Before the game I tried to get as many signatures on my baseball as possible. Most the RedHawks that warmed up were very kind and signed my team ball. The nicest guy was Mark Hamburger. The dude actually thanked me for letting him sign the ball. First time a player actually thanked me. I got 11 total signatures. Cosart and Castro were nowhere to be found. Spoiler Ross Seaton looked good as the starter, but got a little wild in the 5th and 6th innings. Hamburger came in and was just plain awful. Every ball hit was hard, including a 415 foot bomb to center field that would've been a home run in any other park, but our center field fence is 420 feet. The pitcher that impressed me was Jose Valdez, who was untouchable and blew away the Bees hitters he faced. I turned to my friend and said that's a future closer. That's how good his stuff was last night. As far as hitters...the clear cut standout to me was Jimmy Paredes. He had an incredible at bat in the 5th that turned into a RBI double, fouling off several tough pitches. He looked like a major leaguer stuck in the minors, for reasons I have no idea why. His approach to every at bat was awesome. When you sit that close to the action you can just tell which players have it, and Paredes has it. Very impressive. Martinez hit a home run, but it barely cleared the fence and you could tell it was helped by the elevation. It sounded like a pop up when he hit it. Hessman was garbage. Struck out 3 times and looked awful in every at bat. Overall it was a great game with the walk off HR, and I enjoyed meeting some of the RedHawks after the game while they waited for the bus to take them back to the hotel. Hamburger is one funny dude.
Great recap! Just left you a rep. Did Fernando go a little more in-depth, or did you leave him be so he could do his thing? Heh... Castro is actually on his way to join OKC right now. He was in Corpus to start his rehab assignment. Also, it looks like the next domino is falling...

RT <s>@</s>brianmctaggart: Brandon Barnes in lineup for Astros twitpic.com/agoin8
— Corpus Christi Hooks (@cchooks) August 7, 2012

Ah damn, wrong tweet...

And Marc Krauss has been promoted to AAA. It would be nice if at some point Fontana can prove he can *hit* a baseball. He's got the watching and catching and throwing parts down.
I left Fernando alone for the most part, except after the 3rd inning when he signed the ball. I spent half the time watching the game and half the time peeking in on how he was charting the game.
Logistically it's interesting because it doesn't free up a spot for Jorge. I was expecting Robbie Grossman to go with Krauss.
