So sad. I recall his son battling through drug addiction. He might have lost the battle to those demons. RIP
This may be a poor time to broach the subject, but what do y'all think about Andy Reid? From everything I've heard, he's super dedicated to his team even in the face of terrible family situations. It was news when he didn't take time off when his son was dealing with the drug problems years ago. Now I'm hearing that "Andy will do everything he can to get back to coaching the Eagles as quickly as possible". I personally don't buy the whole the "eagle family is important as his actual family" bit. I don't know if it's his coping mechanism but outwardly it looks like he's got skewed priorities. What do y'all think?
I think a 27 year MAN doesn't need his dad to watch his every move and keep him out of trouble. If his son was involved with drugs and couldn't get it together it sure wasn't his fathers fault. I'm speaking from the prespective of a son, I feel for the trouble and pain his alleged problems caused.
I'm thinking it's an act of futility to try and judge someone based off what miniscule time we have a window into their lives.
Isn't that exactly what he was doing by giving him a job with the Eagles? I agree with the "grown ass man" idea, but his family was pretty messed up at the time and he didn't even take a leave of absence. I just remember being shocked at the time that he just went on with his life. It seemed like his family was crumbling around him and he just kept coaching. --Wikipedia And yet that's what 90+ percent of bbs posts are about. Completely futile speculation/debate. There's probably something I'm missing but I personally don't understand his behavior. If my kids had those kinds of problems I'd probably take some time off to deal with it. His son's death is a tragedy either way though.
Crazy that both of his sons had separate car accidents the same day and assault/drug charges placed on both of them.
Well, Buddy Ryan was a sociopath and Dick Vermeil was a neurotic mess, so this is probably a happy medium.
