Appreciate it, but the sad face was more that I haven't really had much of an athletic career for a guy who was a triple threat in grade and jr high school.
Once upon a time I was a damn good basketball(SF/PF), football (DE/TE) and baseball player(P/C/1B). Was also on the swim team for a season or two and a tournament bowler as a pre-teen till high school.

I blew off most of that when I hit HS except for football.

    What could have been.

My friend and I beat a pair of athletic 20 year old at 2-2 half court basketball when we were both past 40.

In the lowlights but still cool department. I was dunked on 4 times in one game by a dude named Willie Sublett, was knocked pretty much out on my feet by Lamar Lathon and struck out by Brian Bohannon. So at least I have been humiliated by some pro-level talent.

I wasn't very good at swimming, but that was my best time on my favorite event!

In high school I struck out Lance Berkman twice in one game. The other at bat was a double.

I know this will sound silly, but I had the best time in the 50 yard dash (doesn't even exist anymore) than any boy in my jr. high school (about three hundred boys). At the time, that meant the world to me, like winning gold in the Olympics. I still recall the thrill of it.

I cracked the top 100 tennis players in Texas while I was in high school...played a little in college...but it was such a distraction to my studies, that I had to quit and focus on my future career.

Only 2 come to mind, both rather pathetic:

In elementary school, we were playing dodgeball in PE. Anyway, it was quickly down to 5 on 1, and I was the 1. I battled all 5 of them on my own until at last I threw down all 5 of my enemies and smote their ruins upon the court.

In junior high, I was the tallest guy on the varsity team. I had zero offensive skills save for a nice little jump hook, which I would love to say I patterned after a certain famous #34, but was closer in resemblance to a less than famous #43. So last game of a terrible season (we had only won 1 previous game), we were down 1 at the end of the game and alas, after many "I'm open!" my teammates finally recognized my time to shine and gave me the ball. With no one guarding me, do I just walk in and lay it up? Of course not because that is not a skill I possessed! Down on the block, with the only skill I had at my disposal, I faked absolutely no one to the right, turned left, and knowing J.P. would be proud, I threw a little hook over my head and scored my 2nd and 3rd points of the season (1st was on a technical FT in our 1st game) leading our team to an improbable victory.

2nd place in school spelling bee. Spelled 'deactivate', 'deactiveate'

    Dammit!

What was athletic about it.. while on stage, I clinched my butt cheeks an hour trying to hold in a fart.

When was this? Are you Asian by any chance? I had a fast break all by myself once to win a game and this dude came out of nowhere and blocked my shot. We went on to lose the game. This was like 5-7 years ago. I pumped faked like an idiot (no idea why) and then got the KJ treatment.

In my teens, I hit a home run off of a guy that ended up being the closer at a DI baseball program.
