    I'm not a betting person at all. But if Vegas have even odds on the Rockets landing Dwight Howard in a trade, I would put thousands of dollars on it.

    99% may be a bit much. Mainly because there's a chance Orlando overplays its hand, and the Rockets are forced to pull out as time passes too long. And I think there's a chance that OKC may be willing to do a rental. But over I think the chances are fairly high that we get him before the season.

    If Hennigan drags this out until the last day before training camp ...Morey should pull the offer that same day

    Nah. Morey's not offering a rookie right now I don't believe. If he was I think it would be done by now. If we can get Dwight and a bad contract for Martin 2pat Morris and tor pick at any point in time, we should do it.

    The holdup could be Shaun Livingston, who can't be traded until the 27th. I think his nonguaranteed contract would need to be included in order to take back more salary from Orlando.

    Possibly. But like everyone has said around here, a deal in principle can still be made even if the trade can't happen until a certain date due to contractual issues.

    I think this is what the Magic are trying to beat (and IMHO they won't be able to):

    Martin + T Jones + PPat + Morris + Douglas + TOR & DAL 1st + CHA & NYK 2nd + filler for DHo & JRich

    Plus, in a separate deal (as a carrot), Morey is probably offering Livingston + $3M for Duhon.

    Orlando is not going to beat that offer in terms of (1) good draft picks; (2) young prospects; and (3) shedding "bad" contracts

    I would love if Houston got Denver into that trade as a 3rd party and acquired Corey Brewer (for JaJuan Johnson + filler).

    PG = Lin + Duhon
    SG = JRich + Lamb
    SF = Parsons + Brewer
    PF = DMo + White
    C = Howard + Asik

    Add Fesenko + Barbosa + Henry Sims (F/C out of Georgetown) on 2 year contracts with team options on the 2nd year.

    That team won't win the west this year (OKC is too strong, right now), but has laid the foundation to add one more piece in 2013/14 to battle for Western Conference supremacy.

    Even if Howard bolts (50/50) in 2013/14, Jefferson + Bynum might be available.

    And yes.... I think Morey is keeping Lamb + DMo + Royce.

    Orlando had their shot before their draft for all 3 draft picks, but Morey's message will be: you waited to long and the more you wait, the less that will be available.

    Yeah but why even offer Jones? The only team that has even been mentioned as another possible team to facilitate a deal(as a leverage tactic no doubt) was Cleveland, who came out and said they wouldn't trade either of their rookies or Thompson. Whether you believe them or not, that was what was reported so that's what I am operating under.

    I think we can keep all rookies. Longer this goes on the more leverage we have.

    As opposed to playing in Houston after he's thrown down the gauntlet with Morey saying you better not trade for me or else? You better believe he would.

    That's valid. I just think T Jones is the most expendable of the 3 rookies to facilitate a deal.

    But you are exactly right.

    The folks who are concerned about DHoward bolting = even if he does that money could be used for other players (Jefferson + Iguodala).

    I don't know about the NBA, but in the NFL IIRC you can make picks contingent on player's activities after you trade for them (e.g. 4th round pick becomes a 3rd round pick if a player re-signs with the team that trades for them).

    BimaThug or someone else: Is that possible? Make pick dependent on whether player signs with the team that traded for them.

    If so, I would say Dallas' pick should be made contingent on whether DHo re-signs or not.

    Ah but he never said ANYTHING of the sort. His "camp" (AKA Dan Fegan) has been making noise this whole time. Y'know why? 'Cause Fegan cares more than Dwight... and because Dwight isn't willing to say anything like that... because he knows he'll re-sign wherever traded and can't forfeit the $$$.

    Nevermind. I remembered NBA draft is BEFORE free agency. However, if we offered the Magic a future draft pick (2014 or later) it could be made contingent on whether or not DHo re-signs with the Rox.

    Wishful Thinking,I don't see any way a trade happens without giving up at least 1 of these players Lamb/Parsons/Dmo.

    Otherwise Orlando will just deal with LA for Bynum.

    Except Orlando can't deal straight up with the Lakers without a third team. It's been stated this whole thread that if it were to happen, Bynum would either be going to Cleveland as the third team, or us. At this point it appears as if Cleveland is leverage.

    Way too much to offer, and it's only a fair offer if DW agrees to resign with us.

    That is a fair offer giving up only ONE rookie. And pay attention. Howard will not re-sign with any team before free agency. If he re-signed now, he'd get like 3 years 60 million. If he hits free agency, a new contract with his new team will be 5 years, 105 million or something like that. If he walks to another team, no max deal for him.

    ¿?

    That's more likely a 'not enough' offer.

    We are only offering 1 rookie and 1 pick while taking 1 small bad contract according to recent reports. Some even doubt that's been offered given DW's serious threat to walk away by season end.
