    Running A Marathon?
Killer basketball game against great competion

I think the best I had was swimming 650 Meters in 12 minutes [#BlackFolxSwim*GRIN*]
I remember it because it was the 1st time I was sweating while swimming in an ice cold pool
    [Much respect for Phelps]
It ain't medalling in the olympics but I felt accomplished.

I ran a half marathon and did the MS150 solo (the ride was cancelled that year, but I rode anyway, no support, etc.).

Ran track 2 years in high school and could have walked on in college if I wasn't such a lazy ass but here were personal bests for me:

100 meters - 11.26 (senior year in high school)
400 meters - 52 (senior year in high school)
800 meters - 2:20 (freshman year in high school)
mile run - 5:25 (sophomore year in high school)

Then a long time passes and I got into weight lifting; maxed out at 290 and did 10 reps of 225 (weighed around 200 pounds at the time).

Ran a half marathon a few years back and won a game of 21 last night. In that order.

It's between these 2 soccer games...

In a high school game, played keeper and had a shut out in the first half, saving a pk. Moved to forward for 2nd half and scored 4 goals.

In a college game, scored what ended up being the game winner to net us the TX St. Club Championship.

I had an epic kickball defensive play in sixth grade. I was playing left field and was running forward to catch a ball that had been kicked through the infield. While running I tripped and was falling forward. While falling I managed to catch the ball and shovel it to the 3rd baseman.

In retrospect... my athletic accomplishments are pretty sad.

As a young boy (10-12) I was an AAU state swimming champion in Texas. Set a few pool records et al. One will never be broken as they tore down that pool the next year...

Won a putt-putt golf tournament in the 7th grade. It was all-ages. ALL-AGES.

Came second in state in tennis my freshmen year of high school. My game got progressively worse as I got older. Haven't picked up a tennis racket in 8 years now.

I've run a few marathons in the past few years, but I don't consider that much of an accomplishment. If I could do a triathalon I would consider that something of note.

I won my tennis club's doubles championships together with a very good player.

    That's about it :(.

Oh, and we made it to the semi-finals of the UH soccer intramurals and I scored a few goals. What would have been the game-tying goal in the semi-finals was (wrongly) ruled off-side, though :(. (A huge fight broke out later between the Mexicans on my team and the Arabs on the other team. I stayed out of it/tried to be a peacemaker. The Arabs eventually played against another predominantly Mexican team in the Intramural Finals. Another fight broke out, the police had to be called and no winner was declared. So I think we really won those Intramurals!)

I played Rugby in my 30's.

When I was a true gym rat, being able to work out (3 sets of 10-12 reps) on standard bench press at 275 being 6'1 felt pretty awesome.

Won my college's IM golf tournament twice (one 4-man scramble, one individual).

Pitched a couple of perfect games in little league back in my prime.

When I was a sophomore in HS I played post in a high post style offense. I'd get the ball 15ft out, either look to hit a cutter, drive and kick, or shoot. I was pretty soft, an offensively oriented post. The team was good, I was good, everything was good. But the varsity coach understandably wanted to make me better so he called out my rebounding before one game. It happened to be a game where we were going against the most athletic team in the district, possibly all of Texas to be honest, on the road. He said he was going to count my rebounds that game (we only tracked points and % sub-varsity). He chose that game to make a statement. If I didn't get at least 10 I'd have to run my butt off the next day (I hated running). He knew I'd fail. Anyways, somehow, things just went my way. I had 17 rebounds in about the first 7 minutes of the game. He stopped counting after the first quarter and I lul'd.

Ran a 4:12 mile as a senior in high school and then 4:08 as a freshman in college before stress fractures shut me down.

Walked on as a pitcher in college after not playing in high school. Did well before a rotator tear.

I think the most impressive was gaining 50 lbs in 2 months while in law school... literally.... I was a fatty.

I'll have to guess that it was completing a marathon.

But I'll always remember my first touchdown playing football for Bellaire.
    Obligatory:
