Selig: He has dealt the Astros a couple pretty severe blows over the years. I dont really think Houston has been singled out however. Another team in the same circumstances would have had the same done to them imo (unless your one of his pet teams) Drayton: Although he left things in a mess, I cant hate him because he was also responsible for several good years. Kind of a wash in terms of my opinion of him.
Neither... Drayton -left the club in terrible shape but was also here for the best years in franchise history. My biggest faults with him or him taking the space theme out of the Astros in 2000 and making no attempt to keep Randy Johnson here. They'd have 1 or 2 world series rings if he retires an Astro. The Carlos Lee signing was terrible but it's hard to fault a guy to spending $$$ and trying to win Selig- I wasn't thrilled about the AL switch...But now looking forward to it. Overall baseball is thriving he deserves some credit.
He ****ed up the farm system, and meddled in baseball operations. I think we have to at least consider a portion of it was due to his need to win now, since he wasn't going to own the team much longer.
Don't know much of anything about you, don't know your theories on sports, don't know where you come from, don't know your usual disposition, don't know your general philosophies about life, don't know your thoughts concerning the floating population of Shanghai, China, but I do know that you are one dumb SOB.
Thanks for the insults and personal attacks. I guess we were missing a replacement for DD around here.
He is just another L Alexander, he doesn't know when the team needs to rebuild. Thats why he signed Lee and Williams(led to horrible '07 draft), traded 5 players for Tejada, traded for Jennings, signed Matsui, etc. he wanted to win. I think I got mixed up with wade, but wade also gets credit for messing up the farm system
I don't hate Drayton. I'm glad he sold but I can't totally s*** on the owner of the team during it's best stretch ever. All of those playoff games, even though no titles, are still better than no playoffs at all. I am glad he's gone, though, for what became of the team because of his inability to know when it's time to start over. I'm glad he's gone because of his being Selig's lap dog when it came to signing draft picks and the "home games" in North Chicago. Bud Selig, on the other hand...I don't like him. He's a s*** stain on the underwear of the devil. He has done nothing but treat the Houston Astros and their fans as second class. The forced move to the AL when there were better options. The forced "home games" in North Chicago when there were more neutral options. Ignoring the steroid issue. Keeping the DH. Etc., etc., etc. Yes, baseball is thriving under his leadership. Though I wonder how much of it is in spite of his leadership. I said this in another thread... Go f*** yourself, bud.
McLane's biggest screwup was chasing off Hunsicker, franchise hasn't been the same since. But Selig is way worse though, every decision that man makes is the wrong one. He's reactive and stupid. Oh we have a tie in the all-star game?...Let's have it determine home field advantage. Oh, both wildcards were excitingly decided on the final game of the season last year?...Let's add two more wildcards.
What is that a gif of? (original video) If that was a real door and not a fake one....that is insane.
My choice was Selig. I'll never forget about that game in Milwaukee played immediately following the Hurricane in Houston.
Well, you can see corrugated cardboard inside the door. Definitely not solid wood or particle board like most doors.
