Emiliano Carchia: According to his agent, Houston Rockets are eyeing J.R. Bremer for a spot in training camp
That comment, intentional or not, may have messed up his chances. The real question is this: What about Courtney 'Little Waynei' Fortson?
The report is mistaken, Rockets are talking to 23-year-old Z.R. Bremer, J.R.'s younger brother who hasn't been in the NBA since 1998.
My guess is that the backup PG job is Toney Douglas's to lose. He has a cheap but fully guaranteed deal while Livingston has only $1M guaranteed on his $3.5M salary. Any of the rest of the guys (be it Machado, Bremer or whoever else gets mentioned) will just be camp invites with no guaranteed salary. The Bremer invite might mean Machado has opportunities elsewhere (remember, he is a free agent).
Why are people suggesting T.Douglas can even handle the PG position. He failed in an epic way in NY...so please just stop.
Machado only chose the Rockets SL team when he knew Dragic and Lowry were on their way out. Maybe he really wanted to look at his other options, if there are any, where he would have a bigger role.
Thought it'd be this JR Bremer that's 31. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jr_bremer/ Was thinking about this too. Maybe we are in the hunt for D12, and they need a backup PG St. Bonaventure connection with Orlandos Andrew Nicholson is a bit of a stretch, but supposedly Bremer was the best player to come out of there previously.
Yes, Douglas isn't a playmaker but he can be fine in a Chamlers like role if he's paired with a point forward, like Royce White.
