This is so true, of the top ten deadliest snakes we have 8! I just returned from the Steve Irwin zoo and got to see some of our deadliest creatures up close and personal. One of my favourites is this guy... He shoots out a harpoon tipped with venomous neurotoxin peptides. Or these guys... Stonefish...venomous spines Deadly Box Jellyfish Blue Ringed Octopus ...and I could go on & on! But it's so hot Down here, we still go swimming anyway!
I took all the best things about Australia and put them on youtube for you: Music <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sFVedjvliWo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Sporting Culture <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/1IThhJa3Bns" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RCL-DXQO6nQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Patriotism <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZtWVJikNnx4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I have Australian family, so I've learned quite a bit about the country just from talking to them. Unfortunately, they always travel to visit us in the States and I've never had the chance to visit them there. What always struck me about the country based on my conversations with them is the abundance of dangerous animals. When I was a child and my cousins told me of all the spiders, snakes and dangerous sea creatures, I imagined Australia as some kind of Thunderdome where humans had to constantly watch their step and be ready to fight off animals trying to kill them.
Replace the "Australia" in the poll with North Korea or other countries led by a dictatorship, look at the poll options and you have a legit poll made by their political leadership. "You feelings regarding North Korea?" a: Love it! b: Love it more! Jippie, 100% approval rate.

A diggeridoo (sp). Someone told me college students like to go there for study abroad b/c it's the country most similar to us besides Canada.
The 4 creatures that I listed in my previous post are just in the shallow water or rock pools! Introducing the Funnel Web spider...get Bitten by him and you actually have to pull him off you, like if you stepped on a nail! And you have approx 45 mins to get medical attention or it's bye bye. And the cousin of the black widow...The infamous REDBACK, yes it eats snakes. ...famous for making webs around the outdoor toilets, and Biting backsides. These guys are everywhere, literally everywhere. I could go outside, or my garage and find maybe 10-20 webs, and I'm in the suburbs, not bush! And these are just a few more 'back yard buddies', things that you find in your average suburban backyard. Eastern brown snake...known for being aggressive, and chasing humans, rather than run away. Red belly black snake, likes cars, sheds and dog kennels. Wasps Huntsman My enemy, the white tip spider, causes necrosis of the skin. And in every backyard, the wolf spider...
...continued From up north... Crocs Cassowary Death adder Tiger snake Sharks My favourite... The deadliest snake, Taipan Even the duck billed platypus, an egg laying mammal, has a venomous stinger on its ankles! These are just a few of our little friends down under, be sure to come visit.
Either I'm getting really old or clutchfans is slipping. I thought this would be on the first page: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JEgCkOfl4jE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If you don't have at least one of these in your house at any given time, you're just not Australian enough. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but they're not deadly.
The Huntsman is an Aussie icon! You're right, every home has a few. They're only deadly when they fall into your lap while driving! There was one in my car a few weeks ago it was the same size as a tennis ball!
These bloody yanks seem one spider the size of a dinner plate and they carry on like a pack of Sheila's.
