I wouldn't go that far but honestly I bet some of the people on this board will post something like "well if the priest in the temple was armed, this wouldn't have happened."

It's a post by Ronny. You don't have to read it to know that it's arrogant, self-congratulatory bullcrap which talks about what a man he is compared to the rest of humanity.

I believe gun control is somewhat irrelevant on both sides, because there are other countries who have lax gun control laws and their societies aren't nearly as violent as America. It always weird how people will go out and purchase guns after a mass-murder incident (Virginia Tech shootings, Aurora Shootings, or 9/11), and start taking gun classes. I've taking gun classes, before as a younger woman, but in all honesty the chances I will ever encounter to actually needing to use a gun are very little. Outside of maybe a rape attack or me joining a law enforcement organization, I doubt I will ever have to use a gun unless I start hunting for food out in wilderness. It's kind of funny that people who are fervent about using a gun to shoot someone will sadly never have the opportunity to do so in their lifetime, unless they become a police officer or military personnel who will see active combat on the front line. The chances I've anyone being a part of any horrific mass murder by lone individual or even a small group of people are still fairly remote and isolated in general term, though the chances would increase if a mass murder was committed by high impact device, like a nuclear weapon or very powerful bomb.

Ideally, you take a society of people who are pacifist by nature and give them access to dangerous weapons, such as knives, swords, handguns, automatic machine guns, and even high impact devices (such as bombs and missiles). I'm willing to bet nothing or very little would happen, because they are PACIFIST by nature. It wouldn't be in their mentality to be murderers or even people who expect violence from their fellow citizens. As I warned earlier, this is under ideal circumstances, but still I have to question is something wrong with US/American society versus other societies.

Notice how the US dominates this list:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rampage_killers:_Africa_and_the_Middle_East

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rampage_killers:_Asia

These things aren't necessarily regulated to a particular time period, either:

On this dynamic, I'm just focusing on individuals, notice I haven't said anything about how often America is involved in an armed conflict, politically or even how quick law enforcement agencies are apt to use violence or guns in peaceful situations or where the citizens may not pose a threat to anyone in general.

Coming from someone who has been around guns since age 5 or so, is a hunter, and currently owns 30 or so rifles and shotguns (most are sentimental hand-me-downs and collectors' pieces), the gun fanatics scare me more than criminals do.

There has to be a middle ground.

then we will see more bombings, which will have more devastating effects on society.

Ask Isreal how their gun laws are working when it comes to suicide bombers.

This. Our nation was founded on uneasy compromise. I am not sure when politics became an all or nothing game on both sides.

Guns, like most everything else, have a context. People who own many guns of different variety I look at with suspicion. But those who own a gun or two and hide them separately in the house (and have learned how to use them), I whole-heartedly support.

    Guys, relax.

Our kids haven't been killed yet.

Until they do, America is a free country and as degenerates living amongst other degenerates, Americans have the right to protect themselves.

A few dead bodies in Wisconsin and Colorado and countless ghetto's shldnt change the founding laws of this great country.

Plus, rap music will die if we outlaw guns.
