So, when did they reduce the number of team members in gymnastics team competition? Had 7 when US won gold in 1996, only 5 now. Is it a limit set by the competition's governing body or something?

Can't wait for Blake vs. Bolt, both joggin to 9.85/9.87. Gatlin will surprise with a banger time.

I say one with WR(Bolt or Blake), one really close, Gatlin with 9.7 or 9.6 somethin.

I still think Gay's being overlooked some...his time wasn't great, but he also pulled up fairly early like Blake. I expect him to push the rest, even if he doesn't medal.

Why do sprinters pull up early in prelim rounds? Will a few extra seconds of running fast exhaust them for the final race?

 

Nah, they try to hide what their limit is and want to shock their opponents in the Final. Right now no one knows what Bolt, Blake or Gatlin are capable of, all other finalists ran nearly 100% this season and have no element of surprise.
