"Unofficial" stuff most definitely cannot line Les's pockets. Anything using an NBA logo (jerseys, hats, coffee mugs, pennants, keychains, etc) without the express permission of the NBA is a copyright infringement and illegal. If an owner got caught doing that without giving the money to the team pool, it would be bad.

Hell, I'm not even sure Les could sell Linsanity jerseys without a logo, since Lin has a copyright on that...or someone.

Even if most merchandise revenue is shared, Les has got to be happy seeing the Rockets brand re-emerging in Asia. China is a tough market to crack and having Asia's most popular player is going to open a lot of doors.

Not really the rocket store belongs to the rockets, the nba store goes to all.
I think the ones in asia are from the rockets store.

Just to clarify, if I buy a jersey from the Toyota Center does the money go to the Rockets or the the NBA? Does the Toyota Center have an online store? Sorry, I know dumb questions, I'm not from Houston. :)

All i know is that I bought 2 from Rocketsstore.com and it's way more then the ones at NBA store, and the ones that I bought from Rocketsstore goes to rockets and the ones from NBA store goes to the league.

And the ones selling in Taiwan are the same price from Rockets store if you buy from overseas adding in the mailing fee.

Doesn't matter what the store is. Any revenue made from anything with an NBA team name or NBA logo is split evenly between all franchises. It doesn't matter where you purchase it. Just like the Rockets get 1/30th of all Kobe Bryant gear purchased. That's what revenue sharing is.

Rockets keep revenue from team-owned stores.

This has probably been posted elsewhere, but its a good overview of the financial impact that Lin can have. Some highlights:
