Melo didn't vouch for Lin though. That was a myth that was likely spread by Stephen A. Dantoni denied it also. Also ESPN played a clip of the GM talking and he said that the decision was made between the coach and the GM to play Lin. Melo had nothing to do with it. It was an audition for Lin because they were going to trade him to toronto so that they could get mike james. James was a pg who played with Mike Woodson in detroit, the detroit team that won a championship. When Lin blew up they decided to role with him as there starting pg instead of trading him. Melo didn't have much to do with Lin playing.

Melo didn't vouch for Lin, or anyone specific for that matter. Melo was asked to play more D because the Knicks didn't have a true PG at the time. He told coach to get someone else to play D because he didn't want to.

Melo stated in an interview, that he told D'Antoni to play Lin. When D'Antoni was asked about that quote from Melo, he said that he did not remember that conversation.

Expect to see more of Melo's "injuries" as Knicks fans and NY media turn on him. I'm glad this clown isn't on our team.

I have never believed that Melo suggested to MDA to play Lin. Thats a rumor that came from Melo's camp. MDA denied it. Jeremy hasn't confirmed it, only expressed surprise in an interview.

It's something nobody else has really confirmed.

I doubt Jeremy even registered on Melo's radar back then.

Again, D'Antoni STATED that he doesn't remember having a conversation with Melo about playing Lin. Lin was given a chance because he was going to be cut in several days, and had a good outing versus Boston the day before Linsanity broke out. I believe D'Antoni, since he's the coach and he decides on who gets minutes.

Pretty much. All of this was confirmed by the General manager too on an interview with ESPN. The GM gave him a shot because he played well against Boston. The GM even said that he played well, he made some mistakes but he looked like he knew what he was doing so we decided to give him a test and Lin passed. It was a decision by the GM and the coach to play Lin. Melo didn't have anything to do with it.

Ppl act like Melo hates Lin. If you remember those games, Melo was like a cheerleader in street clothes cheering on Lin and the team.

Yea, iirc he didn't get a call so he just laid there pretending to be hurt. Even his teammates were giving him the wtf look.

That is by far one of the most immature acts I've seen on a basketball court. No shame at all, eh Melo?

This I agree with. I don't think he hated Lin at all. I think he believed in Lin and his talent and wanted to play with him. I think Melo just didn't like all the baggage that came with Lin. The hype the media spinning and such the "linsanity". Remember Linsanity didn't have a lot to do with Jeremy Lin the basketball player. It had more to do with his story and But the issue I have with that is as the franchise player and as someone that wants to win wouldn't you just want the best player possible to be on your team and just ignore all that extra stuff.

for the record, i thought melo was a selfish black hole of offense when he played in denver. i was dreading the fact that the rockets were "pursuing" him at the time.
