to be fair, he's just supporting his own previous statement, and he didn't say "NBA" there. arguably the 2nd best team in the playoffs in '09. I don't know about "proven winner", but he's not a loser either. Not everyone wins a title. Is CP3 a loser? He's achieved less than Melo in terms of team success. I wouldn't say so.
those are great stats actually. he's a SF. not everyone is LeBron. As a Pacers fan, I wish that Granger was as good a passer as Melo. Melo's problem is holding the ball for too long and defense. as well as hero ball which got out of control lately. his assist stats are actually good.
I am not sure why Knicks fans are so happy with Melo's performance for Team USA. I mean what did exactly he show? That he can get hot at 3 (actually it's long 2 by nba standard) and he's a great scorer? Isn't this pretty much everyone knows already? While great players like LeBron and Durant work on their weakness and expand their game to be a more all-around player all the time, Melo hasn't really shown he's made any improvement on his D and playmaking at all. Those knocks on him are still knocks on him. Lol.
I remember when ashton punked melo on mtv, he really looked like he was mentally weak. The guy looked like he issues, just reminds me of the spoiled student athelete that had everything handed to him with no real coach to challenge him until george karl.
That's the problem, he complains about LOF which I agree there are plenty of here now. Which we were expecting after the YOF years of the BBS. He is obviously a LOHater. He's been trolling ever since Lin got to Houston, just looking at his join date can prove that. And for someone to try to bring up (so called) off the court issues is ridiculous when talking about Lin. Obviously this ******* has something against God as well. It's okay cause you hate on God, you hate on your life.
You guys are reading too much into Melo's words. I take his words at face value: Melo didn't pick up the selfishness meme until Linsanity happened; this statement doesn't mean he was seething with jealousy during Linsanity. (He thinks he's the best and he makes a max contract - what is there to be jealous about?) ,Dude, he was cheering Lin on from the sidelines the whole time. There are also quotes from Lin that suggest he and Melo are on good terms, and that Lin appreciated Melo's support. It would be a stretch to say that BOTH Lin and Melo are making that up. I don't think Melo is a complicated guy with seething emotions and hidden motives. He just says what he thinks and he doesn't take seriously what others say about him, which makes it all the easier for him to say whatever comes to mind. There is also every indication that Melo and Lin are on good terms. It's harder to explain but I also take at face value when Melo says that he and D'Antoni got along and didn't have any issues. People often say he's a coach killer but I don't think Melo went into the Knicks front office and asked that D'Antoni get sacked. He just quit on the court and didn't cooperate, making it impossible for D'Antoni to succeed. The results are the same -- D'Antoni is gone -- but I don't think Melo goes about it with malicious intentions. He really is like a kid. He's a gold mine for the NY media in that it's really easy to get some editable quotable to start drama. Like the "ridiculous" quote, which, to be fair, was taken out of context, and people were reading way too much into it.
Linsanity began on February 4th. I googled "Carmelo Anthony Selfish", restricting the results to pages that appeared on or before February 3rd. I won't post all of the tens of thousands of results, but this gives a pretty good flavor.
I don't think Melo was jealous of Lin at all either. They liked each other. And you are right they did cheer each other on the court. I think Melo may have not liked all the extra baggage that came with Lin though. The media hype and so forth I think is what Melo didn't get. And it is clear from Lin's own words that he found the media stuff uncomfortable as well. But you are wrong, Melo did pick up the selfish meme prior to Linsanity. It was there. Particularly because the Knicks traded the farm for Melo and Denver was better without him while the Knicks were barely .500.
Not really, when you hold the ball 80% of the time. Do you know why Melo gets 3 assists a game? Its because he ISOs for 22 secs, and then when he doesn't get a good look he throws it to someone else for the desperation shot. Sometimes those shots go in, and voila! There's your 3 assists a game. If you look at their stats, Marbury, AI and Francis all have good assists per game, also because they use that same tactic. As far as Melo is concerned, he's been tagged selfish since his Denver days. Those Denver teams he played on were really good, they had one of the best coaches, Billups, and Nene+Kmart as a frontcourt. IMHO Melo actually held them back, that team had a lot of good scorers who were forced to limit there touches because Melo doesn't know how to share the rock.
