Hey all... So, I'm moving again and it's come down to the NY or SF. I was just curious on outsiders opinions of the two cities. It seems CF members are well traveled. Spent time in both, and honestly, the pros and cons balance them out. Job opp. is about the same, I'm young, no wife or kids...but would like to make this long term. This should be the last place to ask, given the abundance of sarcasm on CF. But, just thought it would be nice to hear a few opinions. Go Rockets!
I've never been to either one but if I had to pick it would be SF. Overall better weather and I'm assuming a prettier city. Better place to raise a family.
I've heard some good things about SF. NYC is definitely awesome. You can go wrong with either, but I think the COL being better in SF (not by a huge margin though), I would go with SF.
If you can comfortably afford it, San Fran. NY is too high maintenance if you ask me. Love visiting the place but I think I'd go crazy of I had to live there.
LOVE NYC, but could not live there and deal with the **** every day. Love San Fran and would move there in a heartbeat if a job were offered. Gorgeous place, but damn expensive to live in.
Without having lived in either and really visited either other than stopovers in New York, I'd pick San Francisco. I just can't see myself being happy in a place like NYC.
Its all about where you see your self in 10 years...if your looking to settle down, work, kids, etc etc etc... Short term: NYC Long term: San Fran But both places are mad expensive...at least cali has better weather...
i like good weather, and San Fran has it 24/7....not to mention a few great restaurants of its own...but obviously were talking about comparing it to NYC...so..really..it depends on what you want to do...but San Fran is my say.
SFO lived there...unless you're extremely loaded or love NY then sure I'd rather have mountains and ocean and oh ya that wonder of the world Known as the golden gate bridge...wish I was living there again, it's cool it has cons as well, but SFO is cooler
Never been to NY. Know nothing about it cept what I see on tv. I've been to SF only once and throughout my whole week that I was there, I only saw
its basically 56 degrees year round...coming from 100+ in htown to that would feel cold...but when its like that all the time....amazing.
The better debate: greenwich village or haight ashbury? I'd go with haight ashbury just because I dig joan didion.
