hmm thats possible actually. I told them both times that it would range from $230-$300 total. It wound up around $280 per person so maybe they were hoping for a lower range. gah that's annoying if thats the case.

You were in the range, so it's still on them. Bill them for what they owe.

I've been to enough Bachelor parties to know that men only back out for 2 reasons: Wife and budget.

You typically can cancel a hotel room with 24 hrs notice.

I have been in charge of two bachelor partys. Got burned twice. I think it comes with the job of being in charge.

Give the groom his own room with a king and split that room between everybody else.

At least from all this you learned a valuable lesson. Always collect money before hand before you book something. I had to learn the hard way too.

I had a guy back out of a friend's bachelor party in New Orleans because his girlfriend wouldn't let him go. He tells us this the weekend before when his girlfriend was in Vegas for a bachelorette party. We still made him pay, but we haven't seen or talked to this ******* since the wedding (he was the best man, knew us for 20 years, and poof).

This isn't a guy issue, it's a people issue. People in general are selfish and have little regard for their fellow man, even if it is friends and family. If something better comes up or they just don't feel like going, they will cancel on you at the last minute. You can take some comfort in the fact that they probably felt guilty. For a few minutes.

My solution is make people pay in advance.

People will screw you over or let you down in a second, but want to reap all the benefits.

Does the solution not seem obvious to everyone else?

16 people, 5 rooms. Now it's three to a room (one room with 4).

Take the total cost and divide it by 16 instead of by 20.

Sure, it means one less lap dance for the groom per attendee, but hey, at least you don't hafta squeeze 4 in a room anymore.
