    Really?

People are not attempting to prevent homosexuals from getting married?

Can you imagine only having sex with one person for the rest of your life?

    Super scary.

Without social norms and peer pressures, bi-sexuals would probably rule the day.

I've always wondered why monogamy sounded so similar to monotony.

Fighting for a constitutional amendment to define marriage isn't an issue.

    Chick-fil-a's involvement isn't an issue.

The Christian church controlling voter opinion is an issue.

So you are saying we should eliminate marriage as an institution all together right?

Meaning you could not extend insurance to your spouse. No divorce. How do you handle sharing of assets then? What about custody battles when kids split? How will that be determined?

Not to mention citizenship through marriage, hospital visitation rights, power of attorney rights, and many other laws built around this institution that people rely on.

But if that is your stance, then you are saying you are not against gay marriage at all actually. You believe they have as much right as anyone else, which is 0.

    Is that correct?

That piece of paper affords rights denied to gay couples that would give them peace of mind just like the rest of us.

    it's  on the trolling.

1962 - a bunch of black people starve themselves inside bigoted restaurants to promote equality.

2012 - a bunch of white people stuff their faces inside bigoted restaurants to promote inequality.

    this!

I know United Methodists who will continue to fight for inclusion within the church, for its members and its leaders.

they go to annual conferences and introduce proposals every year, and will continue to until the church recognizes that if you are going to use the phrase "Open Hearts, Open Doors, Open Minds", then the church leaders better back that up with action.

and every year, delegations from the South and from Africa make sure that their proposals are shot down.

for the record, the congregation my wife and I belong to are considered a "reconciling congregation" and have an openly gay ordained Deacon as Minister of Music.

whether or not he had to address his sexuality when applying for the postion or went to seminary or whatever, I'm not sure, but he and his partner are both in the choir together and there's no one in the church that is naive enough to believe they are not partners. them or the other gay members that identify themselves as Christians.

I guess we are considered as some sort of rebellious liberal gay loving sodomites?
someone please remind me what year we are living in... are we in Uganda here?

I went to chick fil a yesterday (I totally forgot about the date) to steal some mayo (long story). I did order some food. Do you know what I ordered? A pork sausage egg and cheese biscuit. Do you'll remember what the bible says about eating pork? Well it forbids it. So i guess chick-fil-a loves to disregard the word of God. Typical hypocrite Christians.

Don't forget being on the right side of history.

So to boost his voter enthusiasm he decides to endorse gay marriage. Nice

That is the right to marriage, which gays are allowed. Gays/Lesbians can confess their love to any god/religion they wish (marriage). We are discussing government recognized marriage. Again, you don't understand what a right is.

Your welcome by the way. Everyone should understand their unalienable rights and what that means.

I am not seeing the distinction. If government sanctions marriages then under the 14th Amendment they should extend that to everyone.

Government sanctioned marriage itself might not be a right, since it is provided by the government, but equal protection certainly is.

humans who want to marry dogs? Should it extend to them?

How could you not understand the difference between government-recognized marriage and just plain marriage? Not complicated. Homosexuals aren't demanding for the right to marry (they have that), they are demanding government recognized marriage. CometWin got confused and posted a comment from a judge on the wrong one.

'might not be' is wrong. It isn't by definition. Not even close. Government certification is never a right.
