that's a huge overstatement. Nick Young is a black hole. Barbosa is an ok off the bench scorer who can pass and do some other things. His main job is to score, that doesn't make him a black hole.
Even if Martin goes down, the Rockets still have Gary Forbes, who I think is going to surprise a lot of people next year. He's a late bloomer who should be entering the prime of his career, has worked very hard on making his 3-point shot at least respectable, and is a very smart defender who earned a lot of praise from Dwayne Casey. In the 20 games he played after Barbosa was traded from the Raptors, he averaged 11/3/1.4, on .465/.418/.653 shooting, in about 22 minutes per game. Not worldbeating or anything, but that's about what the Rockets got from Courtney Lee last year; they should be fine. I would also like to see Toney Douglas at the 2-spot only; at PG he's one of the worst players in the NBA, but I think that if he were put into a Jason Terry role where all he's asked to do is finish plays and take the tougher assignment on defense, I think he might be a salvageable player. Regardless, Barbosa is entirely unecessary for this team.
This. I do not want anyone in front of Lamb honestly. If we are rebuilding, I do not want to trade all these young guys for D12. Its not because he is not worth but I do not believe he will stay and that makes it not worth it.
I have my fingers crossed hoping that the only way the Rockets part with Martin is thru a trade for Iguodala. Iggy would get these rookies straight. If not, roll with K-Mart.
If we aren't getting Howard, then I would let Martin play out this year until his contract expires. Thats like $12m off the books come next summer. AND even if we are trading Martin, I'd expect J.Richardson to come to Houston so either he or Lamb starts. Honestly, I don't see us ever trading Martin unless its for Howard.
At this point in his career I'd pass on Barbosa....even if we are paying the vet minimum, I'd go instead with Lester Hudson from Memphis he's 2 years younger and when giving (20min. avg) scores 11-12pts a game....not a game changer but will play effectively as a backup........
That's like saying: Dwight Howard < Kwame Brown At which most of you will agree with. And at which I will be more than elated you are not our GM.
This I like .....Ellis has more upside and is better trade bait or a good semi all- star starter, if Lamb doesn't pan out. Ellis is proved he can play. We will just have to wait for Lamb to develop because it will take atleast two years to fine tune his skills and body for NBA basketball.
they've just traded Bogut for Ellis because Bogut gets injured too much. Why would they turn around and get Martin. They'd basically exchange Bogut into Martin, that's awful.
