DMC89-- Good post. It does however miss the main message of this Super Pac...mainly that identifying the specific unit (Seal Team 6) who carried out his order could have put the members of that unit and their families at risk. I would be pissed too (no matter who was President) if my family had to look over there shoulders for the next 20 years.
Yeah that's another criticism that I find empty. DEVGRU is highly classified, and I'm sure all members of that group are well-trained to keep their identities hidden from friends and family. I can't imagine this AQ boogeyman stupid enough to infiltrate the US just to take revenge on the creme de la creme of special forces lol. Zinke needs to give Seal Team Six more credit.
Its already out there thanks to idiots in the White House. Don't believe me? Maybe the Secretary of Defense would suffice? http://www.theblaze.com/stories/loo...eaks-has-seal-team-6-fearing-for-its-safety/#
Dude. If the SECRETARY OF DEFENSE said the leaks happened. THEY HAPPENED. What don't you understand about that?
I don't think Gates lied. I just don't think he was talking about team members or their families. He was talking logistics, weaponry, and plans.
You think most Commander in Chiefs would have gone against the advice of the top military minds in the room? Is that really what you believe would have happened under most commander in chiefs? Because when they run for the position almost all of them say they'll listen to what the military Generals and leaders have to say.
I see a different interpretation of the quote He's speaking to an audience. When he speaks of the "security of our families" he's speaking generally about everyone not just the seals. Now he may have met with them and they did express concerns about what they perceived as leaks but the thrust I think of the quote was not intended to suggest that families were actually in danger.
I've done a poor job of relating all this to you. Watch the following video and see what you think. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/g14S5zetj1M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I have no doubt any US president would've authorized going after OBL but it is the decision to use a SEAL Team that is questionable. As other posters have noted the US military was advising using a missile strike instead of a special forces team.
One of the SEALS involved in the raid has written a book, so I don't know how concerned these guys are if they are putting the info out themselves. I know that his identity was a closely kept secret until Fox News outed him, probably because he doesn't complain about President Obama in the book.
Basso: did Fox News make the right call in outing the identity of a SEAL involved in the raid? Classy or Trashy?
How soon we forget. Yes Bush had "the opportunity", he refused. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/oct/14/afghanistan.terrorism5
Bush had the opportunity to have the taliban hand over bin laden to "a state that could never come under pressure from the United States." But that's only if we "prove" to the taliban that he was in fact involved in the 9/11 attack. Gee, I wonder why he didn't take them up on that...
Gee, I wonder if you really know the details, or just are a talking puppet following party lines. I wonder. Here, the rest of the story. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/oct/17/afghanistan.terrorism11 You can spin it however you want. Fact is he had the opportunity and he declined. Do you think this was the only time Bush missed out on OBL? Try Tora Bora out for size. You take the opportunity to take down the worlds number one criminal and deal with the consequences of country politics later. In other words, Bush didn't have the balls to do what Obama did. Nuff said. As for your post, the fact remains that giddyup was merely spouting off untruths to try and downplay this monumental achievement by the Obama administration. Talking puppets who don't know what they are talking about. Hoping they can defame a person by spreading lies. Seems par the course for a chickenhawk.
Both Clinton and W failed the American people when it comes to OBL. I wish they had killed him right after he declared war in '96.
