This kind of reminded me of the nbc commentator who called a british athlete african american. I do wonder when white people will start calling themselves british american because their great great great great great great great great great grandparents were born in Sussex or something.
A bit harsh on the Boomers I think. They're a woeful offensive team at the moment, yet playing the best defense they have in a while. Despite rarely having any NBA players they've often been in the top few. Think they were picked fair poorly and not rating Brown's in game coaching. There are some OK shooters from Australia but we have a team that can't hit the side of a house with an open jump shot. Ingles could play NBA. Probably needs to be a bit more consistent with the jumper but despite his lanky frame he can finish well inside, athletic and plays the smartest on the current side. Newley **** knows what happened to him, he was near our best player in 2008 and was scoring a heap and you would of expected(as I'm sure the Rockets did) that he would improve, instead he has gone backwards a long way. Mills can be a good player but he needs to realize he's not Kobe and just because he plays NBA and the others don't that he doesn't need to shoot all the time.
Llull did really well facilitated the offense efficiently and assisted the bigs as good as anyone could really.. He obviously wasn't the focus of the offense but did well when he came to shoot. He was troubled by mill's speed and didn't really stop him penetrating but mills had a poor game shooting, he may have been a factor but didn't look like it Overall he looked a complete point guard but relied on the bigs to disrupt Australias offense
Well the Boomers have gone from twice competing for bronze medals, finished 4th both times v Lithuania to being nowhere near the top teams. I know Bogut would help but still leaves us a fair way away from really competing. I was involved with one of the NBL teams here early 2000's when we were around the mark and some of the talent we had was amazing. Unfortunately there is little to no money playing bball in Australia and the far easier option is Aussie Rules and it seems the more naturally talented kids and gravitating towards this therefore leaving sports such as bball and cricket in the shade. There are some 900 spots on Aussie Rules lists compared to 150ish spots on NBL teams and the $$$ is a long way of the Aussie Rules. Also a little off topic sorry but seems we are starting to target your country too for athletically gifted people who dont quite make the grade proffesionally in the states to come try Aussie Rules. Have a look at this http://youtu.be/vgD7pU1Jee8
Lull looks lik a good backup for Lin. He dosent look to score much, but he sees the floor well and moves the ball. His defense is suspect, but i think he has a future as a future backup.
