Spoke to a source in Orlando, who says that the Magic feel that trading Dwight Howard now would be shortsighted. "All the teams in it now will be in it later. Waiting could allow another team or two to talk themselves into pursuing Howard. His value is his value and will not be diminished if traded right before or during the season."

Impression I get from Magic source is that Howard not likely going to be dealt right now. Media is putting a timer on this. Orlando GM Rob Hennigan will not settle in any Howard trade. Waiting could buy the Clippers time to considering pursuing Dwight. Magic are said to be very high on potential packages from LA.

if ur thinking blake n deandre for d12. doubt if clippers do that considering an extension be signed for this trade to happen. also, l.a. wants to hold on to griffin and see if he improves.

If Sterling hasn't offered cash cow Kia boy by now, not sure why he will trade beady eyes for Dwight in few months.

My theory for a while now is they are trying to get either OKC or LAC interested.

    1. IF Dwight would agree to sign with OKC long term, I smell a big time potential deal for Ibaka/Harden in OKC.

    2. I have been saying for a long time that if the Clippers brought Blake/Deandre to the table, that would be as good as Orlando could do.

Now Blake is dinged. Second time in 2 years. And he's owed $95 million.

Sorry, I really think Orlando is waiting to see if OKC comes to the table and if they can possibly get Dwight to agree to sign there long-term to play with KD and RW.

If I was LA I would trade Blake/Jordan for Dwight/Baby in a heartbeat,as good as Blake is he is no Dwight Howard, put Dwight next to CP3 and they are a contender.

    CP3,Bledsoe
    Billups,Crawford
    Butler,Turk
    Odom,Baby
    Dwight,Turiaf

That team is a legit contender.

If Howard really wants a shot at a title, he should jump on that if the opportunity arises. Not sure if OKC would want to, though. Why bust up a team that took you to the Finals?

Oh, I agree. That's why Orlando is "waiting". Because OKC hasn't decided yet. But if I were a betting man, I'd be willing to bet that Hennigan and Presti have talked and they have both agreed to keep the talks buried.

Presti (along with most GMs) already knows what Morey has put on the table. I think Hennigan already knows if Presti will make an offer and what that offer would be. And I suspect they're trying to figure out how to present the offer to Dwight and Fegan in confidence without Dwight and Fegan blowing the lid off the possibility so as not to disturb the mindset of Ibaka and Harden.

I suspect Presti has seen all the garbage Morey has gone through by making his players available for trade and the unpopularity and resentment that is caused by players not being moved after they have been rumored to be moved and Presti wants to avoid that scenario.

BUT.....even if all this is true......they gotta convince Dwight to either extend or agree to sign a new 5-year contract in OKC after next season. OKC won't make the trade without that agreement IF they indeed are amenable to trading for Dwight. OKC is not going to be willing to rent Dwight and throw away Ibaka and Harden in the process. So, it is very doubtful they do the deal. I think there will be an attempt by Hennigan to see if Dwight will extend or agree to sign a new deal in OKC before he trades Dwight to Houston.

Hennigan is taking his time and leaving no stone unturned. He's gonna get the best deal for Orlando and he's gonna make sure he's got everybody's best deal on the table so no one can come back on him later and show that he made a bad deal. So, it still ain't over.....unfortunately.

Just to clarify, there's nothing at all in the link about the Clippers - this is merely the OP's opinion. And unless the Clips are willing to throw in Blake - which can't happen until December or January - they have very little to offer.

    I thought if a player signed a "max extension"(5 yr's) they can't be traded for a year?

Unless the Clips want to give up Blake, which I doubt, I don't see it happening

Can we be done with the dwight trade rumors already. Orlando is in this to the bitter end and they, under no circumstances, are going to trade dwight howard. period.

I thought your latest 'theory' was that Houston/Morey would trade for Dwight and that it would happen weeks/months ago.

If I'm LAC i'd do blake/jordan for howard in a heartbeat but I'm telling you guys right now they wont. I don't see them accepting any other package LAC could come up with...

Considering what's on the table now for Howard, a potential trade to the Clippers should include no more than Griffin for Howard straight up. If the Clippers were expected to give up Jordan AND take back bad contracts then they should also receive a 1st round pick from Orlando. Top 5 protected, maybe... There's just nothing on the table more valuable than Griffin.

I kind of doubt that in Houston's case. I would think our offer diminishes the closer we get to the trade deadline. What's the point of a partial season rental...less time to talk him into staying and feel a part of the team.
