If rox has cp3, howard will likely stay.
yes dirk is old... but most of the nba reports rank us the worst 5 teams in the league right now... just to be honest, with the current roster, i'm not see the rox beating mavs in the nxt 3 yrs. that is why walking to mavs is still a consider opinion, and w/ a 4 yr contract he has the choose either to sux in the first 2 or the later 2. And w/ mark deep pocket and the reputation of rick, i will say mavs is a better opinion for him, if we don't make any roster upgrade after howard's trade. just my opinion.

Pay attention to this folks. OremLK is 100% correct. Dwight wanted to go to Brooklyn as much then as he does now, and was not willing to give up $ to sign there this summer as a free agent.

If he wasn't willing to leave guaranteed $ on the table for Brooklyn, captain obvious says that he's less inclined to do the same to sign with the oh-so-wonderful Dallas Mavericks.

Good thing they play the games on the court (and Dwight will see those, in this scenario), as opposed to offseason power rankings. The Rockets aren't close to one of the worst five teams in the league, and have much more room for growth than a regularly declining, aging Dirk-led Dallas.

PS: Cuban's deep pocket doesn't mean the salary cap doesn't exist. There are slight ways to get around it, of course, but Les Alexander is just as willing - i.e. paying $17 million to Luis Scola to play for the Suns in order to free up that cap space.

    Howard to the Utah Jazz?

ESPN's Chris Broussard reports today that multiple sources have informed him that Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard took a huge dump this morning. In a private text message to Broussard, Howard texted "dropped a huge deuce." Because of the enormous amount of fecal matter involved, sources seem to suggest Howard will sign with the Utah Jazz.

Thunder had DK RW and IS, but they ended up 0.28 in the season. Even our rooks have these type of upside, we are far from better than current mavs roster in the nxt few years. No to mention it is likely not the case.
yes a deep pocket doesn't mean much in a tidy cap space, but it gives a sense to the player they will take all the chance to upgrade the roster, any time they have a run the title.

It's not just about the rookies. The established players on this roster - Lin, Martin, Parsons, Asik, etc. - are a big part of why this team isn't anywhere near bottom 5 in the league right now. The Mavs will likely be better this year (if no Howard in Houston) because they signed a bunch of one-year stopgap placeholders, but the outlook for the five years beginning in 2013 is much brighter in Houston.

I think the Rockets and our ownership have given that sense, too. See the additions of Barkley, Artest, etc.

It is true that signing with LA or Brooklyn will gives alot of $, but also a chance to the title too. What he really wants is probably a weighted sum of $ and a chance to the champ. Not sorely $.

If we trade for Howard Martin will be gone. I'm not so convinced that rooks + Lin + Asik will be attractive to a super star.

That is what I have been saying if howard gets trade here, resign or not will much depend on the mid-season roster upgrade.

We would be stupid to trade for Dwight without pairing him with another star.Morey has a plan we have to be patient.

I have been suggesting that rox and mavs will be a close run with rox has a small favor because I put my trust in morey's ability to make the necessary roster upgrade. Yet, there is always a chance that morey will fail.

    ????????

confused at what angle you are shooting for here.

If its not about money then why did he opt in when he could have given up his bird rights to walk to Brooklyn THIS summer as a free agent when he could have made that team a contender overnight???

Im taking it that Morey knows this, and thats why he's holding out as many assets and young players as he can in a Dwight deal. He is smart enough to know that he needs ammo left over to trade for that secondary player.

1% additional of chance to the title worth certain value to him, and 0.1m additional salary also value certain value to him as well. And he wants to max his happiness.

If the 30 mil so important to Duwight, why not Orlando just keep him till his contract expires? Duwight will then sign the contract with Orlando for the money, locking him in for the next 5 years

I am curious to where this $30MM number came from, as it gets thrown around rather haphazardly. by my calculation (below) the number is closer to double that amount...

also, Howard receiving more endorsements by landing in a bigger market is only relative to his contract with Adidas.
if you are looking at the situation holistically, Houston has a nice in with a pretty major market of its own...

Because Orlando has no guts. Morey is using exactly this line of logic, and is willing to dare Dwight Howard to leave guaranteed money on the table. If Orlando had simply ignored all the whining refuse to entertain any and all offers from the start, I think they actually would have a decent shot at retaining him before all the poison seeped in. But at this point, it seems Orlando after the SVG/Otis Smith fiascos are just trying to move on.

In the end, Dwight Howard simply may leave money on the table, and many teams are scared by it. Including Orlando. But I agree with Morey's approach in that you have call the bluff because you can't let players get away with this kind of bull****. Make him eat a penalty and see if he's willing to do so.

Baffled by how people have such a mgmt like venom towards players and their wants.....

"He will do what he is told and stfu and like it!" lmfao

Everyday Joe can work where he wants; live where he wants, etc...but athletes have no rights? C'mon, son!

    Comedy.

Forcing something on someone that doesn't want it will not end well for either parties.

He doesn't wanna play for the H.....so SCREW him!

    Carry on.
