I followed Yi for quite some time. He's selected in same year as Durant, and I was amazed about one thing: Durant literally 'practised' his way to a star especially in his rookie year, while Yi was used as a role player right from the beginning. I still rememember how Durant jacking up volumn shots with tons of turnovers in his rookie year. OKC just doesn't care about winning AT ALL, and Durant can do whatever he wants and learn from his mistakes. Yi was tentative due to veteran stars on Bucks and their intention to make playoffs, and they never let him develop anything(they just throw him out there and bench him if things don't go well after a couple mistakes).
I think it's a personality thing. Yi is the kind of person who don't talk a lot. He was probably kind of disconnected from the team and couldn't execute the teams' plans well.

Are you stupid? He is in China. He is being interviewed by on Chinese TV. He is in front of a huge Chinese audience. What else did you expect him to say? LOL
Wow. I think we may have discovered the Chinese DaDa Here are the things that Durant is good at that Yi is not: Basketball Other than that they're similar
Talking about the Olympics game between China and Spain, I think it is worth-worthy to mention the ridiculous missed call by the referee...such a clear travelling by Ibaka: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q75miDcYfxI&feature=plcp
I was very excited when Yi was drafted, 6th? I think... Followed every game of the Bucks and even some of the Nets during his sophmore year... As hopefuly as I was for Yi, the guy has terrible handles... almost clumsy-like He did have string of games where he averaged 20+ on multiple occasions during his rookie season, but then he just fizzled, I don't know if it was because of the 'rookie wall' that was thrown around or because the Bucks were just the most dysfunctional team in the league (cue Andrew Bogut flurry of high-fives to nobody during FTs). Watching the Olympics and seeing flashes of brilliance, it reminds me of his NBA rookie season... another case of 'what could've been'
it was really weird watching the opening game.. you can see why he was viewed to have so much potential, quick first step, the length and midrange game. just seems like its very much a mental thing with him, being the go-to player on a team of your countrymen is sure to galvanise you. the mans talent is clear, but its his mindset that doesnt seem to translate to the nba game..
I was trying to find a recap on the CHina vs Spain game to see some of Yi highlights, but found this funny clip instead. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/w2Pb5tRAIB0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Can we just start a forum on Chinese basketball and have a merit system before posters there can come to the regular boards and fart one of these threads upon us?
LOL huge facial! <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/IYrSNMuORkk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Oh, Yi is not a stretch 4, like he's been used. With Nash/Lin I think he could be pretty good, playing an "Amare" role...
