No he fired a missile into the building. Who was left to fire a missile at him and how could he have moved out of the way towing a heavy bomb? The whole point of seeing Fox discover the autopilot was fixed by Bruce was to suggest he was still alive. Otherwise there was no need for that sequence, or the setup earlier in the film.
Nolan couldn't kill Bruce Wayne. How could he? He put the cafe ending part so all batman fans would be happy. Few fans out there believe that Bruce and Batman are dead. Freaking Nolan. Why can't do like a conversation between Bruce and Alfred how he escape from the Bat plane.
Enough dude, we get it, you want to believe it's all a dream. it's not. Another thing I don't understand is why Bane kept the cops alive. All he had to do was let them starve or gas them.
So the people had hope. He explained that the worst torture is when the victim has hope that there will be a good ending (like with his prison, you could see the sunlight).
I think the best part (from my impression) about the fights was that there wasn't any background music. None at all. You were left with the raw thuds, breathes of the actors.
Spoiler So what happened to Bane? Is he dead or just severely injured? Also, I loved the fight scenes in this. They were actually shot from a reasonable distance so it wasn't just random close ups. I think it had to do with Spoiler Batman being older, slower, and more injured.
Not complicated to understand he put it on autopilot. They talk about it (the autopilot) a couple of times throughout the movie, saying that its not on point. No doubt that Bruce used it anyway.
There won't be a Robin movie, that is for sure. If they continue, he will become Batman (which I don't think they would do since the general public only identifies Bruce Wayne as Batman, even though others have become Batman in the comics) or he would become Nightwing. You don't make a movie around a sidekick.
They could do something really interesting and do a version of <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/batmanbeyondbatmaninfli.jpg/'><img src='http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/7545/batmanbeyondbatmaninfli.jpg' border='0'/></a><br> Blake really struck me more as McGuiness than Robin after a 3rd viewing.
Saw it this weekend. So. Bad. Ass. Spoiler I loved how Nolan left it open for people to believe what they want to believe. That was a fitting end. Got chills up my spine seeing JGL finding the Batcave. No matter if he assumes the role or becomes Knightwing, I am pumped for the continuation of Nolan's masterpieces. Bane was an extremely effective villain, but I felt he was a tiny bit underdeveloped. This made the first 10-20 minutes of the movie feel rushed and confusing. Especially if you hadn't seen Batman Begins in a while. I don't like what they did electronically to his voice, it felt pretty synthetic and the volume levels didn't quite seem right. I'm guessing this is because they decided to change his voice at the last minute. My only real gripe was the casting of Anne Hathaway. She did a good job, but she's so not believable as an action star, and even less believable a street rat/gypsy/criminal hybrid. They should have cast somebody a little more rough around the edges, more athletic, etc. But whatever, she sells tickets. Not that this movie needed any help.
I really liked Batman Beyond. In a perfect world in terms of actually continuing the series, they would have a movie with Blake as Batman, but with Bruce Wayne (though I was thinking Bale said this was it for him) returning at the end of the movie to setup a 5th movie with Blake then assuming the Robin role. It will be interesting to see what happens if anything. As far as I know Batman doesn't have the kind of deals like the Marvel characters do where the studios have to put out new movies to retain the rights, but hard to see them not capitalizing on the potential profits.
IIRC from Batman Beyond, Bruce was in those comics but he was a very old man who trained Dennis. Even if Bale doesn't want to continue, they can easily find some old man to portray elder Bruce.
And this is why Nolan left things for us to imagine and wonder. Beyond wouldn't work because Terry is/was nothing without Bruce in the cave. They really don't have to make a Robin movie and i sort of hope they don't. Loved the way they ended everything and how they let us know what branched of from Bruce. Imagination, that is all
In the cartoon, Bruce was very old, and his suit was basically doing everything at that point. The kid who becomes Batman is like a HS Senior. Very young. You could cast an old Bruce, but you'd basically be rebooting the whole franchise, because Blake couldn't be the young guy. You could go Batman Beyond mostly ignoring Bruce, or allowing him to be his normal age, but it wouldn't have much of a future. Batman on the big screen needs Bruce Wayne.
