The problem I have with that group is I don't see much defense. Lin and Martin are liabilities on D. I see Parsons and Patterson as a little better than average, but not much. Though both are young and could improve. Asik, l assume is good defender and can protect the rim. But if the guards are giving up penetration, Asik will be pulled out of position. I'm not sure Parsons and Patterson are good enough defenders to make the pick up and play well out of position. Second string, I see more of the same. I think Jones plays a little D, I don't know anything about Douglas and his game. But as a whole I don't see the bench coming in and stopping a run. Oh well, they are young, and this is the season to be optimistic.
Team defense is what really matters. As well as communication on the defensive end. If that happens both the first and second unit should be fine. Asik is more than just a good defender his presence really solidifies this team defensively. I watched a lot of Bulls games last year and he is remarkably underrated. And Lin isn't really a liability on the defensive end. He isn't amazing but he definitely isn't a liability. He will be much improved next year on the defensive end. He already showed this last season.
