Your bugging no player in there right mind would ever say that. You have to have confidence in yourself to get far in the NBA. Look at Ramon Sessions who most don't see as a started in the NBA. He is now starting on his new team and left the Lakers because he wanted to continue to start and get paid. Plus it is a business, some of these guys want to make a name for themselves off of Lin so any press (even negative press) gets there name out there. Don't hate the player hate the game. And up until Lin got his opportunity in NY he was also undrafted, unsigned and unproven.

yeah well Lin didn't talk about how he hated playing behind Douglas and Bibby or that he was better than them in any way. He showed it on the court when he got the opportunity. All walk, no talk. Machado should learn that.

When he was in Houston Lin felt that he could have earned playing time and Lowry Dragic Flynn were all there. I believe he said something to that effect not to long ago as well. And Machado never said he would hate being Lin's back up nor did he say that he was better than Lin, he said he was a different type of pg (which he is) and he said he had a better college career (which is his opinion). Ain't nothing wrong with that.

Those stats don't tell the whole story. People forget to mention that Lin actually spent the majority of the time playing SG and even SF at times for Harvard. He essentially had to learn the PG position when he came to the NBA.

And, thus, reason suggests Lin would be a great source of inspiration to an undrafted player like Machado.

    Yet curiously he is not.

    The reason?

It is probably because Machado want's to make a name for himself outside of Lin which I can understand. Both were undrafted, both run the point and both went to small schools, both have ties to the Knicks and NYC and now both are affiliated with the rockets. Machado is just trying to not live in Lin's shadow that is all. Ain't nothing wrong with that and it has nothing to do with race if that is what you are alluding too.

    Machado also said this:

“I feel like I’m in the same situation he was last year,” Machado said of Lin. “He was undrafted, ended up with a bunch of teams and ended up with the Knicks, and he ended up doing a good job with the Knicks. Now, he got a big contract and he’s an excellent player. I feel like he has a lot of talent, and he came from an underrated school, and he was able to show his talent. So I feel I’ll be able to do that as well.

He didn't say Lin was an inspiration to him but he kind of alluded to it just a little bit.

It figures this article would be from the NY Daily News. Their beat writers have notoriously been "anti-Lin." This is just media propaganda to try and stir up dissension amongst the rockets locker room. I like Machado's confidence but he needs to put up at least a 20pt performance in the NBA before he can open his mouth.

Nothing against Machado but if you're an undrafted rookie trying to get a contract, you don't mouth off and talk as if you have nothing to learn about the NBA game from an NBA veteran. It doesn't matter if he was talking about the worst PG in the NBA, you just don't talk like you don't deserve to be somebody's backup. You look at Damian Lillard's comments about himself and he's talking about how much he wants to learn and then you hear a more unproven player like Machado talking big, it just doesn't sit well.

You know what you just did, you compared both players by using just their stats with no regards of personal achievements.

And you think I didnt know Lin was undrafted? seriously?

That was a typo and you made it out to be a big deal, try again.

Oh almost forgot, its disrespectful because Lin has proven himself way more than Machado has so far in their career, yet in Lin's rookie season he didnt talk like he deserve anything.

    Common sense, not rocket science.

This is the media. They will spin anything to suit there purposes. I think your reading to much into the situation. Machado could have very well said that he still has a lot to learn but the writer wouldn't include that quote because it doesn't suit the agenda that he is trying to drive. Plus Lillard was drafted so he knows that a team was confident enough in his ability to invest in him, therefore he can talk about how he is excited to learn. The same can't be said for Machado. He has to talk confidently cause like you said he doesn't even have a contract.

Every player wants to be the starter. Nothing to see here. Troublemakers.

Well you're obviously not asian. Most of us grow up teasing our parents and relatives about their accents.
Not even in the same realm as calling black person a monkey. "Internalized racism", pff. Get off your high horse, capt america

You teased your parents about their accents.......wow that's disrespectful in my book. I would never poke fun at my mother's heritage.

I'd rather have Ish Smith or a proven FIBA vet like Huertas over Machado. White is a better passer than Machado, and Machado's offense is nothing special and his D is just plain nothing.
