pretty much the same thing (having the best scoring skills means you have the best ability to score making you the best scorer...), read it substituting best for its meaning, ie Who has the most effective/excellent/desirable scoring skills? To not pluralise it would make it a very different question, and the answer would probably be Dirk because his step back jumper is probably the best single scoring skill in the game right now.

Effective? Durant, Desirable? Durant, excellent? probably still Durant.

Carmelo has more variety sure, but he doesn't really have any super effective undefendable one. You don't need to develop more if you have those (see Kareem's skyhook).

It astounds me that so many people are actually saying Carmelo. Just because you score in a variety of ways, doens't mean you're better. His TS% is a pedestrian 54%, and it drops to 52% in the playoffs. By comparison Chase Budingers TS% is 54%.

Kevin Durant TS% is 58%, and goes up to 59% in the playoffs. The number is even better over the last 3 years. And it's a myth that Durant is a shooter only. His jumper is usually falling, but when its not he has a litany of other ways to put the ball in the hole. The only thing holding back Durant is Westbrook.

LeBron is a close second, Carmlelo isn't in the discussion.

I don't disagree with anything you have said. I just think that means this thread is just like thousands of other threads about who is the best scorer...or who has the most unstoppable shot.

that's all. In that case, I'd like to back out of this thread for being just another thread.

    no love for rudy gay?
Anyway, if its about the number of variation a player can scored from, I would say james. If its about putting numbers on the stats sheet, I will say Durant.

Not sure what define pure scoring skills thou...

Dirk. How can you stop a 7fter's fadeaway shot at the 3pt line? That's right. You can't.

Video? The one posted a few days ago had a lot of posters doubting his ability to play in an NBA game. I personally thought he looked fine (no pro is going to give his all in a pro-am game, except Kobe).

Edit it wasn't a game 7 sorry forgot what game he missed everything, but 4 shots it
was a big game etc...last game I questioned his "scoring ability" that "Dallas Home opener" this past lockout year wow he straight started there with that game, I mean man, he should have got past the Heat it was just the Heat were stronger team. Durant scored at will, LBJ canto he is just streaky, which is why the Bos. Series went 7

So you're telling me the Boston/Miami series went 7 because Lebron is streaky?

    Did you watch the series?

Yea I saw the whole game was betting on BOS. -yup LBJ is streaky
big first qtr or big 4th sometimes maybe a big half, then he settles in. He carried the Heat, but my vote is Durant who is a streaky shooter as well, but afar more consistent shooter.
Durant can't take and1 contact as well, which is where LBJ dominates the L...Durant has to
be more fluid in the air, more balanced. I picked Durant barely...ust bc I think Durant will
be better than Kobe in his great scoring records, but get them quicker, rings we will see. LBJ got his over a Durant team, if that makes you feel better...if LBJ doesn't get streaky well that last game may have been different bt the two teams.

....^*i add that streaky at the endod the game when he had like a personal 9-0 run, with that deep three, and an assist...that well sealed the deal.
